Blue no signal screen in the middle of playing a game - ps3 hdmi

Hi all, I have had my ps3 60Gb for near on 2 years now and my Philips 42" LCD for a little longer.

When I got the ps3, configured it for HDMI from the off and have no probelms since.

Was in the middle of playing a game on it yesterday and all of a sudden got a blue no signal screen.

I have reset display settings using both the power off and on with auto detect and also using the red/white/yellow cable and manually swapping video output to hdmi. But no luck, signal goes black on av while it tries the switch to hdmi, but on hdmi channel on tv, it stays blue - no signal.

Tried unplugging everything and leaving overnight to clear any bad hdcp memory and still nothing.

- Like I said, I have tried the holding doen power on the ps3 during startup to reset the video output, but seem to get no hdmi output.

When using av, I can plug in hdmi lead, it says it has detected an hdmi output, would I like to use, I can say yes, but still nothing on hdmi channels. I have not long updated to v.3 firmware on ps3, but had worked for a couple of days since then so dont think thats the problem.

Don't want to have to send to sony, so any other suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance :)

I have tried both hdmi ports on the tv, no joy. I can only think soming has blown in either the ps3 or the tv as it was in the middle of working and hasn't been moved/changed for months.

I am pinching a spare hdmi cable from work to test tonight, and trying to find someone local who has a hd tv that I can test it on. Such a pain in the *rse!

Will post back later with my findings for anyone who's interested or has a similar problem.

    Cheers for the reply!

I'm afraid it never got fixed. In the end I got Game store to send it off to be fixed free of charge despite it being 18 months old. The company it was sent to claimed it worked as soon as they plugged it in, but they were 'unable' to tell me how they tested it and on what TVs etc. So it got sent back to me and suprisingly enough, it still didn't work.Got Game to buy it back of me as I didnt want to send it away for repairs again. Got a new system after that, not 60Gb though so lost all the benifits, but its better than having a broken system. If you can't fix it, take it back to where it came from and use the 'Sales of Goods Act' and look up the law on fit for purpose, they cost enough that you're entitled to a refund even after the guarantee has ended. You may have to fight for it, but for the price of them it's worth it. Hope that helps a bit.

I have the same problem. when I switch the tv off and then on again, the display shows, but after a while, maybe a minute(irregular) the display goes off again. Did you manage to fix the problem?

I haven't tried any of those, but it is strange as I can watch bluray and it works fine, but it did happen 1 time when watching bluray, then i just switched the tv off and on again and worked fine after that. i don't know anyone with a hd tv, will try to get my friend over with his ps3 to test the tv and cables. my tv only has 1 hdmi port though.

Have your tried a different plug HDMI plug on your TV? Maybe bring your PS3 to a friend who has HDMI and try it on his TV. What about a diffferent HDMI cable?

Could also be your HDMI on your PS#, but try these other simple tasks first.

Good Luck

My PS3 can't only PS2 games!!! 80028F17

Not all PS3s are able to play PS2 games - they started removing that functionality when they came out with the 60GB model. So if you have a relatively new PS3 (A year old or so), that's likely the reason.

Blue rays not playing and screen says no signal

This is blue ray lens failure. this optical Assembly has two separate reading lenses. there is one designated for Cd audio and CD_ROM reading and, the other is blue ray compatible. the blue ray lens in inoperable at this point. you will need to replace this lens assembly.

Green screen

I am a TV repair technician and what you are experiencing with your plasma and PS3 is a HDMI compatibility problem. The Philips plasma and the PS3 electronic handshaking (EDID) are not right. This happens alot with an older version of HDMI like 1.1(Philips Plasma) and a newer version of HDMI 1.3 (PS3). A tv firmware or PS3 firmware update will not resolve the problem. I would recommend using the HD component video cables and that should work just fine for playing High Definition BluRay movies.
