Question about Dell Vostro 1000

1 Answer

TOTAL SECURITY constant pop-ups every 5 - 10 minutes Warns of viruses detected. After I signed up initially, my Windows Player would no longer work so I hit system restore to the day before and my Player worked fine. Now I can't get the security pop-ups to stop. My protection center states my Firewall is ON. Auto Updates is ON (won't turn off) and Virus Protection reads: not found. I deleted the program but it won't go away. What to do?

At circumstances like this all you need do is run system restore to the point where the program generating the prompt has not been installed.

This way, there would not be any complaint about the pop up messages time after time.

Reach me on email: onifadeadewunmi@hotmail.com for further explanation on the security matters.

Cheers and remember to rate this solution.

Help free your browser from hackers Antivirus and antispyware software helps prevent and detect malware. If any malware does manage to bypass your firewall, antivirus and antispyware software will help remove that potentially dangerous software. If you have Windows 8 installed, antivirus software is included with the operating system. You are not required to do anything to set it up. If you are using earlier versions of Windows, Microsoft provides free antivirus software called Microsoft Security Essentials. Many of our partners also offer antivirus software.

These items can improve your experience on a website by providing multimedia or interactive content, such as animations. Internet Explorer warns you in the notification area of your browser if an add-on is slowing down your computer. What antivirus software do you recommend for my iMac. I am having problems with pop-ups and other interruptions.

You say you are just beginning-do you mean that you are new to Apple? If you are coming from Windows, your question is understandable. The short answer could be: you don't need any antivirus software. I strongly recommend that you go to Mac-forums.com and search for discussions on antivirus ware for Apple. The discussions are very informative and will explain my answer (better than I can). I switched from windows to Apple in November, 2011 and tried a paid antivirus software: MacKeeper; and a free software: Clamxav. MacKeeper is a scam, don't waste your time or money. Clamxv is one of the few programs recommended for Apple systems. I recently uninstalled it as it seemed to be slowing my system down.
Re: pop-ups: if you are using Safari, go to preferences-security- web content and click the box-Block Pop-up windows. You may find that depending on what on-line work you are doing, you may need pop-ups to be enabled so this not a perfect fix. Also, make sure your Safari is up-to-date.
Finally, stay away from bad sites. You know, the ones everyone warns you about! Good luck, and enjoy your Mac!
BTW, I have had no virus/malware/trojan horse issues.

Laptop has constant pop-ups from the ad.xtendmedia.com virus

Hi,
did you try using Microsoft Security Essentials?
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download
If you don't want to do so:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Click on Download Now, it won't actually install anything, it will just scan your PC, and after it has done it, the file will delete itself.

Webroot and spysweeper 2011 no longer puts cookies into quarentee section

I have the same problem: Webroot 2011 no longer detects and quarantines cookies. If you go to the Webroot Support page and type "no longer quarantine cookies", it offers the generated issue: "You want to know why Internet Explorer cookies are not detected in a scan"; to which it offers the following answer: "A recent Microsoft security update (KB 2559049) [...check your Windows updater, I got this security update on my computer on August 10th...] prevents Webroot security programs from identifying spy cookies on systems where the update is applied. Although these cookies cannot be detected, your core antivirus and anti-spyware protection is not compromised. Viruses and spyware are still blocked. Webroot engineers are actively investigating options to restore spy cookie detections and any solutions will be provided in an upcoming release." (This statement is not dated; I am looking at it now, August 28th, 2011, on their Webroot Support page.) I have Windows Vista operating system and Webroot 2011 version 7.0.11.21. My Webroot Antivirus with Spy Sweeper hasn't swept up anything in scans in the last couple of weeks, but it did block an internet site last night; so I think it's still working. Hope this helps!

Bought stopzilla anti virus on line, everytime i send registration key number it comes back failed

There could be 2 reasons for this problem.
1. Either you have got a fake software
2. Or you have got a key for a different download of the same software.

You can always contact them through their live Chat facility in their website.

Note: If you have licensed copy of Windows OS then you can download Windows Security Essentials. It has
1. Anti-Virus,
2. Anti-Spyware.
3. Firewall,
4. Real time protection
5. Automatic update of virus definition and detection engine
6. Total solution for online and other security threats.
And It comes absolutely free. When you are getting such a great product for free why to try unknown software?

Every time i open a new program, windows installer pops up, but does not install anything. it just stays there.

Hi there, most of the time when this happens, its because of a apparent corrupt file that has been discovered by the windows security system. when you initiate a program and, the correct file base isn't found immediately after this initiation, the windows platform will try to find it by launching the windows installer program. this installer will search the entire HDD for what it needs to start the desired program you want. if the programs vital missing DLL's aren't found, the installer will simply stall out and remain on the screen. the best way to fix this is to reinstall the specific program that is causing the installer to activate it self. if its popping up on many programs, just reinstall them. i would also run a virus scan as well just to be safe. some viruses are known the stealth themselves by taking over your most used programs.

please rate and god bless:)

I have an HDD6330 and instead of using WMP, because it has so many issues, I use Rhapsody free player. It works great, syncs immediately with no issues. It also has easy file transferability.
