Your battery may be too low to allow charging it and "starting" your computer at rhe same time.

Remove the battery and clean the contacts on the battery and the laptop.
1. Plug in the laptop power adapter with no battery in the laptop.
2. Turn ON computer. It should stay turned on.
3. After Windows settles, insert battery.
4. The computer will stay powered on.
5. Allow to charge.

My Toshiba nb505 netbook run with the AC adapter, but will not run on the battery. The battery shows that it is charging but the charging percentage does not increase. Any advice?

I own the Toshiba NB505 netbook and the very same thing was happening to me. Here is what I did to fix my issue:
Step 1: Shut down the computer and remove the battery. Then turn it on but now with the battery out. It should say "battery not detected".
Step 2: Open control panel and open the "device manager". Under "batteries" (the first one), uninstall the one that says "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery". This is the battery driver.
(Don't worry. The computer will automatically re-install it)
Uninstall the driver and shut down the computer.
Then reinsert the battery and power on the computer. The driver should have re-installed itself. Check to see if the battery is now charging.
(It will take awhile for it to fully charge to 100% Best to shut it down and let it charge. The far left indicator light on the front of the Netbook will turn green when it is fully charged)
Hope this helps. Yeah I had to figure this one out on my own. Toshiba support staff over the phone were useless!
Good luck!!

Dell PC losing battery very fast

hi

turn off the computer , then remove the battery . reboot system and try rebooting the notebook with the AC adapter only.
this is to ensure the Ac adapter is working fine, and if it is, it should be charging the battery properly when its installed.

now, turn off the system again. re install the battery and try booting it up with the battery only

if the battery hasn't enough charge, then attach the AC adapter. If you have allowed the computer to charge the battery (while the computer is powered off) and it is not charging the battery, then you need to replace the battery definitely.

you can get a new battery (if you are in North America) from www.compluscominc.com

please send me 4 thumbs up

Orange battery light is doing a double blink right now... Does that mean the battery is being charged??

I had the same problem, I removed the bettery while it was still plugged in, tested it, then plugged it back and and now all is fine.
or you may try If an AC adapter is not connected to your computer, the computer's power source
is a battery. If the battery indicator flashes amber or is a steady amber, the
battery needs to be charged. If the battery is flashing green and amber, the
battery may be defective. To troubleshoot this problem, use the following
procedure.
1. Turn off the computer and peripherals, and disconnect them from AC power.
2. Reseat each installed battery by removing it and then replacing it.
3. Turn on the computer. Does the green power indicator light up?
Allow one minute for the computer to initialize its components before checking
for signs of power.
Yes. Continue to step 4.
No. Use the AC adapter to connect your computer to AC power. If the computer
operates normally when using AC power, go to step 7. If the computer does not
boot when using the AC adapter, see the previous subsection, "Total Power
Failure When Using the AC Adapter."
4. Does the battery indicator flash amber or show a a steady amber light?
Yes. The battery needs to be charged. Go step 5.
No. Go to step 7.
5. Connect the computer to AC power, and fully charge the battery.
For instructions, see the topic titled "Charging the Battery" in the online
System User's Guide.
6. As the battery charges, does the green battery indicator light up?
Yes. Go to step 9.
No. Go to step 7.
7. Is the battery indicator flashing green and amber?
Yes. Your computer may be in a hot environment. Charging the battery in this
condition may affect the life span of the battery. Continue to step 8.
No. The problem is resolved.
8. Disconnect the computer from AC power. Is the the battery indicator still
flashing amber?
Yes. You may have a defective battery. Continue to step 9.
No. The problem is resolved.
9. Remove the battery, and press its test button. Is the uppermost indicator in
the charge gauge of the battery flashing?
Yes. You have a defective battery. Continue to step 9.
No. The problem is resolved.
10. If a spare battery is available, fully charge it, and then install it in the
computer.
11. Turn on the computer. Is the power indicator off?
Yes. Your original battery is defective - please look for a replacement. Hope it helps.

Battery not charging? Help please.

Hi,

How old is the battery? Usually, batteries only have 1 yr of life. It will start degrading when it is near its 1st year. You should consider that as well. You can try to take the battery out of the laptop and drain its power. Meaning, you would have to leave the computer without the battery and the ac adapter for at least 2 minutes. You can also press the power button while doing so to ensure its completely out of power. Next, plug in the AC adapter and turn your computer on without the battery (yes without the battery. This would check if your AC adapter is doing fine as well. If it does not turn on, you are having troubles with the AC adapter as well). After turning it on, allow windows to load and have the computer detect that it doesnt have a battery. You would see the icon that the battery is not connected. Next, turn your computer off and connect the battery. Unplug the AC adapter and turn the computer on. Wait until windows loads and then connect the AC adapter and see if you will still get the same message. If you would still be prompted that the battery is not charging, the last option before getting a new battery is to reinstall the Operating system. Sometimes, the problem that you are having is also a result of a failing power driver in the Operating system.

The easiest way to check is to put a known good working battery of the same model into your computer to check if its really the battery that you are having problems. If other batteries work, you should replace the battery that you have immediately. If it doesnt, its the laptops charging port that is having problems. If the laptop is still under warranty, you can have it brought to the service depot for repairs by calling DELL. but try doing the solutions that I have mentioned before doing so.

Hope this helps.

G60-235DX PC Notebook: will not turn on, with battery that is charged or ...

Please perform the below steps :

Due to regular use of the notebook, some static charges tend to stay in the computer, and sometimes results in not allowing the computer to function properly.

Please follow the power drain procedure to confirm the same:

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30seconds to 1 minute.
4. Put the Battery in.
5. Reconnect the AC adapter.
6. Turn on the Notebook power.
7. Restart the Notebook.

If the Notebook boots up you may fix the battery back. Try restarting the computer only with the AC power, without the battery & vice-versa. If the issue still persists then I request you to reset the memory modules, as sometimes the memory module connection get loose.

Dell XPS M1330 battery not detected!

Hi,
Normally the life time of a laptop battery is 300 cycles. that is 300 discharges and charges. Since your laptop is almost 2 years old, the battery could be at the end of its life time, and again depends on how often you use your laptop in a day. Better goto a service center or get a similar battery from any of your friends just to make sure it is not a motherboard issue. Then you can think about which part you've to replace.
Please come back and rate my solution if it turns to be helpful fro you, or also if you need more clarifications. Thnx
