If the lcd screen is attached to another small printed circuit board, you may need to replace that, otherwise you may need to have to replace the lcd panel. Good Luck :)

I opened my Sony portable DVD player and my screen is white and black with lines on it, what do I do to fix it?

Your problem description does not give a clear idea about the issues. I'm considering the that the pictures are displaying in black and white for the new Portable DVD Player. Please follow the troubleshooting steps from the link given below:
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=C89600

If the issue is with the screen, please reinsert the battery and check if that helps.

No picture i only hear sounds, its blackout.

Hi you probably turned the screen the wrong way take off the battery undo all the screws (heaps) take the base off and check the black and white plug hasnt pulled out of the sockets push them back in, unless you turned the screen around and around and ripped them out this may be the cause when putting the screws back in careful you dont thread them as it is easily done good luck

I bought a Portable Dual DVd Player (PLV31199S1W) last year from Targer and now there is no picture. WE tried everything. Can we return this. Thanks, Ginger

Check the side of the player, there is usually a button that takes the picture from the screen to the side port where you can run into the regular tv monitor.

My sony portable dvd player stopped working. The

If the DVD is connected to the TV properly using the yellow, white & red AV cable and the TV is switched to AV and there is still no picture, plug the yellow lead from the back of the DVD player into the green socket. If you see a black and white picture now the DVD output is on Progressive Scan mode. See user manual to turn off Progressive Scan mode.

Dvd player

Hi,

Initially, pls check if your portable DVD has an NTSC/PAL selector switch, option or feature. If yes, try selecting the other. Should this not be corrective, pls post the exact brand, model and your general location/region.

Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Picture turns off sound is on

Hi Anya, Im sorry to hear of your difficulties but very happy to know im not alone. I have the same exact Sony model and the same exact problem. I wasnt sure if it was my Tv or my upconvert Sansung DVD player. I spoke with Sony assistance..and well..they were of no assistance. They blamed it on my HDMI cable, then the dvd's i was playing, then the dvd player itself. I ruled out all of the above. Mine goes black when i play a dvd in the upconvert format (720p or 1080i) otherwise known as digital..but the analog signal goes through fine. Luckily i am within my 30 days since I bought it, so now that I have seen your posting and am certain its a tv issue, I think i will return it and buy a Samsun tv (a great alternative for same price with only drawback being a glossy screen=not good for bright rooms but amazing color clarity). Sorry I dont have answer for the problem other than your not alone on this one. I have read other Sony users listing similar issues. I hope all goes well with you and wish you the best Matthew
