Question about Sanyo PLV-Z3 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Two vertical blue bands on right side of screen, get worse as movie progresses, and black areas look really blue. Air cleaned entire projector per manual instructions. Also rotated both blue IN and blue OUT filters, thinking this would shift the blue bands to the left if one of them was causing the problem. No change. Any suggestions?

With the projector off, remove the cover and unplug the blue lcd panel ribbon cable from the main board and reinsert it. you have to unlock the cable first (either the clip goes up or out, but do not force). if that does not solve the problem, you have a faulty lcd panel.

Sadly the LCD/DLP wafer is failing, and the problem will progressively get worse. The DLP wafers can be replaced but it may cost as much as replacing the entire projector with an updated one. SORRY!

the light filter on the blue lcd is fried due to excessive dust and heat. clean it out with canned air and replace the filter. unfortunately, you might have to replace the entire optical engine because benq doesn't sell individual parts for it.

Hi PFCS

This is unfortuantely a well known sign of a faulty Mainboard.

And this will have to be repaired by an authorised service provider.

No. The optical engine is OK. You need an adjustment in the light tunel. Call a tech to do it.
