Re: printer is not printing

This is a silly question but Is the printer turned on or is the usb plugged in? If so, try pressing the printer resume button. If it still doesn't print, look at your printer settings at the control panel and see if the actual printer your using is the default printer...

Several immediate things come to mind; check to make sure that the printer drivers are up-to-date; there maybe a possibility of an IRQ conflict; check to make sure that the printer is set as the default printer in control panel; make sure that the printer you want to print from in the <file>, <print> menus screen is selected and not a virtual one. Absent more info like OS and how your printer is connected to your computer (e.g., is it through a serial cable, then make sure com port is active in BIOS and is checked off in the properties menu [control panel, printer, properties, port tab]; or are you using an LPT-printer port or USB connection- make the same check. Sorry that I can't be more specific without additional info.

My lexmark x2500 printer keep print the same thing over and over. how do t fix the problem?

It could be that the same print job is on queue to the printer. Try to delete all print jobs in the queue before sending out a new one. Follow the steps below:
1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET STOP SPOOLER" (this will stop the print spooler service) 2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files. 3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET START SPOOLER" (this will restart the print spooler service) Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh. Try to print again.

I have a lexmark x3400 printer and a windows 7 operating system. The current print job won't cancel and won't delete and I can't print anything else. I can't uninstall the device as it says the printer...

You will need to clear the print queue first before trying to send another print job. - Browse to Start -> cmd... and type in "NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service) - Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder - You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files. - Browse to Start -> type cmd... and type in "NET START SPOOLER" (this will restart the print spooler service) - Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.

Printer was working, but is not now. All cables are hooked up properly and have been disconnected and reconnected. I have several documents in the memory to be printed, but the printer will not respond. ...

Here are four things you can try; may not have to perfom all:

Check to see if your printer is off-Line

1.Open the Printers, Printer and Faxes, or Device and Printers folder.

To do this:

Windows XP users; Click on Start > Settings > Printers an Faxes or Start > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

Windows Vista users; Click on Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Printers.

Windows 7 users; Click on Start > Device and Printers.

2.Right-click on the printer object (icon), and select Use Printer Online.

3.Microsoft Windows 7 users will double-click on icon, select printer and then de-select Use Printer Offline.

Printer Paused

The printer or print queue is paused and the print queue icon remains in the notification area ('systray') of the task bar.

Explanation:This is typically an end user error. Hint: Dragging the mouse cursor over the print queue icon in the notification area will reveal (1,2,3) document(s) pending for (User name).

What to do:

•Double-click on the print queue icon to open the print queue.
•Click on Printer in the upper left-hand corner of the menu bar.
•Is there a check mark next to Pause Printing?

-If yes, click on Pause Printing to turn off this Windows feature.

-If no, confirm that there is a check mark next to Set As Default Printer and make sure Use Printer Offline is not selected.

Delete print jobs from the print queue

Access the print queue.

Delete all print jobs

• Click on Printer in the toolbar and then click on Cancel All Documents,
• Right-click in the print queue and select Cancel All Documents from the pop-up menu.

You can also delete individual print jobs

1.Highlight the individual job in the print queue by clicking on it.

2.Right-click on the highlighted job and select Cancel from the pop-up menu.

IMPORTANT! If a job is stuck in the print queue and cannot be deleted or canceled using the above steps, there may be an issue with the printer spooler that controls the printing options in Windows. If you observe this symptom, it may be necessary to stop and restart the print spooler; then retrun to delete print jobs.

How to Stop and Restart the Print Spooler

Unable to cancel print jobs; Unable to print; Print queue is unresponsive; Locked print queue; Unable to print; Cannot cancel print job; Printer driver not responding

When I press 'print' my new Canon Pixmz iP4600 it takes about 30secs before it starts to print. After printing, the print job remains in a queue for about 5 mins, preventing me from printing anything else.

This sounds more PC related than it does printer related. Your printer cannot determine when things enter/leave your print queue. I have seen that issues with several different printers and they all were PC related issues.
