My sony cyber-shot camera always has a blank black screen..

Cannot Take Pics

This could be a software problem. The only thing you could do is get the camera to a Sony dealer for the reinstalling the software.

When I try to start the camera its saying just access and turns off

One person with your problem, frustrated with no help from Sony, fixed the problem and posted the video on You Tube. He started his camera, "access" appeared on the screen, he set the camera down, and ran over it with an SVU. The "access" was gone from the screen!

SONY- CYBER SHOT W170-VERY LATE RESPONSE - NOT ABLE TO CLICK PICS

Sometimes with these newer cameras that are coming out now the memory card is very important on which brand you use and what the manufacturer recommends . This causes the camera to act weird turn on then off or show blank screens and the shutter to stay extended or so on. It may or may not be the fix but try that in mine i had too much SD gig it did not support and then when i checked manufacturers recommendations they said up to 8 gig and "their brand" and that they never tested off brands to work or not! I hoped that helped.

Screen is white and doesn't display area being photographed. Can take pictures.

From camerahacker.com:
1. Hold camera firmly in left hand.
2. Smartly rap front of camera with knuckles of right hand on the "Cyber-shot" logo.
Worked for me :)
