Hi, Just bought a Nextel i830 from Ebay. Just put my sim card in and everything seems to work except I can't get any service and the time is not displayed. I was told by someone that I needed to reset it, but I don't know how. Can you help! l
Press menu....settings....advanced.....reset to defaults.....reset settings(reset all will delete your sim contacts) But this is just to reset your phone but most likely this is not your problem, your phones most likely defective or water damaged

i had the same prob jsut put a boost sim in it and wait for about 48 hours with the fone on and wit hfull service the whole time they will trace the fone and check to see if it is reported stolen and if it isnt they will unlock it is an automatic program built into the older fones kinda like lojak this should work on about 75% of the older fones out there ok and ps if it is "hot" jsut change the name the fone is registerd to in the fones menu in boost fones it is under my info ok that is all you will need to do
There is no way to do such a thing. The i830 works off the iDEN network and is not compatible in any way with the GSM network used by Cingular. Sorry. Truth is, the i830 is junk, you're better off without it.
ok you need to call web support at nextel, they need to fix your texting. most likely you put your sim card into another nextel model. they need to clear it up in the back end they might need to verify your serial number and update it.
the i830's were junk. It's probably dented inside. If you want to try and get it fixed, you will need to have this repaired at a local service center.
This is covered completely by Sprint Nextel's ESRP (Equipment Service
& Repair Program) and TEP (Total Equipment Protection), and can be
done at any Sprint Nextel Service & Repair Location. If you do not
subscribe to ESRP or TEP, the charge for the repair will be no more
