I fully charge the phone but within 48 hours, even without using it, have to charge it again

Don't panic this is quite normal.
Even when you are not using the phone it is still on and actively connected to your service network. Therefore using battery power.

Actually to get 48 hours from your handset is very good.
Normally you would have to re-charge the 81xx series at least every 24 hours.
I was charging mine every 12-14 hours.

I have a 6-mo old Blackberry Pearl Flip 8230 that

first try replacing the batteries with a fresh one, having a battery logo with a lightning strike states that the batteries, including the backup battery has completely dried out, try charging it for a few hours. if there is no change and you still get the logo, maybe it would be safe that you should have it check at blackberry repair center.maybe some shortage or busted parts are causing such an error on your blackberry.

My blackberry pearl 8100 phone requires charging every 3 hours, even though I bought a new battery for it, I have the same problem.

You probably have a short on your board causing the battery drain.

Average repair cost is about $40

What is the maximum charging time of drained batteries?

There is no maximum - it will not harm the batteries if you leave it on charge too long. The minimum time to fully recharge should be 3 to 6 hours depending on the power source. If you are using a mains charger it should fully recharge in 3 hours, but longer if you are charging via a usb cable from a pc.

My Blackberry curve 8320 won't turn on it just has a battery icon with a red line through it on screen. A new battery was tried and the problem still exists.

This usually means the bb and battery got a little wet or has other issues. Try these solutions in order. They go from easisest to hardest. NOTE: If you have an insurance policy on the bb probably best just to take it in.

1. Remove the back cover. Remove the battery and the SIM card. Wait 30 seconds. Replace SIM, battery and back cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.

2. If that doesn't work, allow the bb to remain unplugged but ON for about 24 hours to drain the battery. Remove back cover and battery. Allow battery and opened bb to sit in a dry environment for 24 - 36 hours. Relace battery and cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.

3. If that fails, retry step 2 but allow battery to FULLY drain then dry out again.

4. Take in to cell store.

LIfe of batteries

make sure with any lithium ion battery operated device, that you drain the battery completely when you first get it and then charge it the maximum number of hours it states in the manual. To avoid over charging, don't charge it again until that full charge is once again depleted. This will give you maximum battery power

I had this happen to me within the first couple weeks of owning my first Blackberry Pearl and the phone had to be replaced. It was a factory problem with the first software version I believe.
