Well if this happens again & again, then there's surely some problem with ur updates that keeps on gettin installed.,..
So in order to avoid the Restart Problem,
Try to start ur system in safe mode by pressing F8 Key at the time u start ur Machine..
Now select Safe Mode..
After it loads few files, it looks as if its hanged, give it some time to process..
after it gets started, select system restore, from Start -> Programs ->Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore..
Now select the restore point before u installed ur updates..
After Restoring, it will automatically restart..
Hope its fixed now.. If not let me know more abt it.. i'll love to help u out

If u like my post, please rate me up..
I really need some good ratings..
Thanks

Gateway MT6840 unexpectedly shut down and wouldn't

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

When I turn my computer on it says configuring updates stage 3 but shuts down and restarts again saying the same thing

That is a common fault of Microsoft where the updates aren't compatible with your system or a patch doesn't finish and may have shut down prematurely and corrupts it. You should try to boot with safe mode when you power on the computer hit f8. Then go into the control panel>add remove programs. There is a way where you can sort to only see Window updates that start with kb and you can delete the recent ones by date and then restart and try again.

When computer is booting up, press "F8" key continuosly, it will bring you the Windows where you can find option say " Safe Mode". Acer5920 stuck in configuring updates.

This is generally caused by bad blocks in the Master Boot Record(Table). The drive itself is probably not salvagable. You'll need a reputable reapir person to slave your drive to another system to get the data off.

Good Luck

My computer keeps restarting itself

  1. Start laptop
  2. When the laptops Logo page closes, start to press F8
  3. You should get a Windows Start screen
  4. If you get a Windows Logo page (the kind you normally get when Windows loads, then reset it and start again.
  5. On the Windows Start page select "Last known good configuration" and press enter twice
Hope that solves it for you =)
