I know I can set "Auto bracketing" to take 3 pictures (with varying exposures) in a row. But can I set it to take 5 photos (or more) in a row?

    Thanks.

No. if you want more than 3, you will have to manually bracket those beyond the initial three. alternately, you can get a reading for settings then change to manual and continually adjust your aperture setting from whatever under exposure level you want to whatever over exposure level you want.

How to set the monochrome parameter in nikon d50 dslr camera?

Hi there,
There is no monochrome parameter in the D50 as oppose to the D200. You will have to convert using software.
Hope this helps.

Nikon D50 with Nikon DX 18-55 lens will not focus

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your lens. If you are able to autofocus and take pictures with any other lens, then it means that your problem lies with the kit lens. If you can take picture in manual mode, but not in autofocus mode, then the AF motor in the lens in not functioning. I had the same thing happen to my 50mm 1.4 lens.

Depending on your location, there are Nikon repair centers in Melville, NY and Torrance, CA.
Hope this helps,

Hi I have just 4GB SDHC memory card in my D50 and it shows''CHA'' in the brackets for the number of shots. I have tried formatting it from the camera, but this doesn't make any difference. Is it possible...

Hi, I am not an expert. But I just had the same problem. Far as I can tell the D50 does not support SDHC, it was made before the SDHC technology came out. Pentax offers an upgrade to support it for their cameras, so perhaps Nikon will too, though I haven't found anything on it yet. My own solution was to pull my 2GB card out of my phone, put it in its adapter and stick it in my camera, works great. I put an older smaller card into my phone, now all my things are happy. This likely won't work for most people, but worked for me. If I see something about upgrading the camera I will put it on here.

In brackets I have the number of shots 529 however Nikon D50 SLR

The r09 is merely telling you how many more shots you can take in a burst before the buffer fills up. It should not affect operation at all unless you take nine more pics in a burst.

Are you trying to change controls while pressing the shutter button? What controls?

I can't focus with my nikon D50

Perhaps you have accidentally set the auto-manual focus to manual on the camera body?

Per.

PS. The r10 message is just a report of the current memory buffer status, not an error indication.

Auto focus

there should be a tiny little switch on the lens that shows 'AF' and 'MF'.  Make sure it is on 'AF' for auto-focus.  Also, is the lens rotating and locking fully?

I have this problem too - Nikon have looked at the camera and said I set up a custom setting so that the focus only works when you press the AE/AF Button (!). I also had a problem with the flash not working - its looking like this is a known problem. I think I was sold a Turkey
