Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

An elderly relative has lost a panasonic rq-sx53 stereo cassette player. He has many recorded tapes he likes to listen to. Can you advise alternative models which will play these c90 tapes??? The replacement does not have to have radio built in.

Look in your area for any good cassette player they all can play the c90 tapes. All you have to do is have a cassette player. Large stores that have stereo dept. would be a good place to look where you can also hear them to see the sound quality.

I want to purchase (new condition if possible) a Panasonic regular cassette tape recorder model RQ-A200. Are any available through ebay. If not can you refer me to a seller. Thank you

Hi,

There is one available (very cheap) at eBay UK but that seems to be the only one on sale there anywhere in the world and they will only ship within the UK.

If you would like me to look for alternative options, please let me know your location and I will try to locate one for you.

BElectric

Cassette player plays tapes for awhile then will go garble like and auto reverse back and forth once then shut off. I noticed it seems the tape is getting kinked up or stuck on the rollers. looked for...

The reel drive of your set is not taking up the tape and resulting in no detection of reel pulse. this makes it switch over and the result happens again. Please clean up your drives, the rollers, change the belt and check the reel drive arrangement, the motors. I am sure the mechanism must be reset with new belts . This must solve your issue. Good day

Recording Speed

the tascam 414 is a 4 track recording studio which uses standard cassette tapes- meaning they only play in one direction, because the tape is full. The 414 records at double speed so that recording fidelity is increased. When you have made a recording you want to mix you then dub your recording though the outputs into another standard tape recorder or whatever you have available, be it a cd recorder or your PC. So, when you listened to your recording on a standard tape player, you were not only hearing it at half speed but you were only listening to 2 of the 4 tracks. The other tracks would only be heard if you flipped the tape over, and they would be heard running backward. I would have though the 414 had a swich to allow it to also record at standard speed to but I guest it does not.

Unable to to dub from the radio, phono,or cd

As far as I know, you need to press Record button to record from external source. If you press Dub, it will start Dubbing from Tape-A to Tape-B. You might be need to press Record and later press Pause or Play to start recording.
