Well is this a new unit?

data is usually 12 months behind, due to time to collect and render for the various brands. If you think your GPS data is out of date more than 12 months return it to the seller and demand an update.

Nip into another seller and check what releases they have on their demo units, compare with yours and then make your claim against the seller you purchased from

Garmin Street Pilot. No upgrades available from Garmin. Can it be updated some other way?

Hi Steve,

The Street Pilot line was one of the first automotive GPS devices from Garmin, and has got to be 8+ years old. Garmin contracts with Navteq for map software. At one point, Garmin needed to have Navteq compress their new maps so that they wouldn't need to increase the amount of memory in the GPS units and still be able to include all the way points, and new features such as junction view, traffic receivers, text to speech voices, etc. These new maps have an "NT" descriptor in the title. "NT "stands for "New Technology". Non-NT maps are no longer produced.

The new Garmin GPS hardware had to included the ability to decompress maps "on the fly" for display on the screen. As a result, the NT maps will not work in the older Garmin devices.

Your best bet is to either use the Street Pilot - knowing that the routes may no longer provide accurate information, or purchase a New, Refurbished or Used GPS. Garmin offers "Lifetime Maps" as an option for nearly all NT capable GPS units either as a subscription after GPS purchase, or "in the box" when buying a Garmin GPS. You'll get FREE map updates for that GPS up to 4 times per year. This assures you of always having the most recent maps available in your GPS. Look for a model that has "LM" in it (ie: nuvi 1490LM). If it has a "T" in the model name (ie: nuvi 1490T), it has Lifetime Traffic. If it is listed as "LMT" (nuvi 1490LMT) it has both Lifetime Maps and Lifetime Traffic.

I hope helps!

Hello,

Log into your account at www.garmin.com by using the myGarmin link.
With the unit connected to the computer go to the myDashboard link.
Your Street Pilot 2720 should show up on the dashboard.
From there you should be able to apply the update.
You may also want to contact Garmin support for assistance.

How can i upgrade my nuvi 205

There are several updates / upgrades for the Gamin nuvi line GPS units. All come directly from the Garmin website at www.garmin.com. All the updates requires a computer with a USB port, USB cable included with the GPS and the GPS itself.

Go to:

http://www.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

This page is the home of the Garmin WebUpdater. Follow the detailed steps to update your nuvi's firmware. It's quick, painless and best of all, free.

The next step is to update (or even change the country) street level maps to the lastest version. There are a couple of options available. A "nuMaps Onetime" purchase of a single map area (ie North America 2011, Europe 2011, etc.) for as little as $70, "nuMaps Lifetime" which for about $120, provides up to four (4) updates per year, for life of the nuvi (which is a pretty good deal!) and finally, depending on a couple of variables such as date of purchase, you might be eligible for a one time free upgrade. All three of these options are explained in detail at:

http://www.garmin.com/updatemaps/

Lastly, if you have any questions related to your nuvi, maps, firmware, or how to obtain or install them, you can telephone (or email if you wish) Garmin Customer Support for free, expert help using the link below:

Where can we find free garmin gps updates for free

Garmin did that in the beginning. I am really sorry they started charging for their updates because I paid for their newest and found that even it needs work. Last year I was driving in North Carolina when suddenly the Gamin showed me in the middle of a field and trying to get me to turn around. I was on a new highway that was not found or listed in the recent $80.00 update. I love Gamin but they do need to do better on their updates! The best solution is to go to garmin.com and have a chat or call them. I'm a little late for that because the street changes are much faster than a decent updated update. Their products are great and your model may qualify, but I'm not going to pay again! Sea Breeze

How to find a location through the address I try to type the street name but found out is no match found. Please assist.

If your exact address cannot be found, it is possible that your installed Map is not up to date.
Short from updating the map (with no guarantee that 'new' street will be included), you can navigate to streets intersections instead or nearby street or some other POI landmark.
Hope it helps.

Streets not visible on Garmin 200w

First try this: I believe simply pushing the reset button will fix your problem. The reset is located under the frame around the screen. To remove the frame, use your finger nail to carefully lift it off the screen. Then just push the reset button and you should be back in business.

I need to updates my c330 gps please

I take it that you have a Garmin Street Piolt? Do you have a computer with a free USB port and a dial up service or DSL? It's easy..... Turn your computer ON and plug the USB cable into your computer, then plug the other end into you GPS unit. The GPS will turn ON and you computer will show you have a new device hooked up next go to your web brosser and do a shearch for Garmin.com. Once you are at there homme page, click on up-dates, then click on unit up-dates and follow instuction on the screen. You can also down load the web up-date program. It's a little faster and easier then going trough the home page... Good Luck
