Fan Exagerated Noise

Hi,

I have my pavilion for 2 years now and for a few months the processor fan started making TOO much noise, and it's getting worse. I Cleaned the fan VERY well, actualy took about an hr to make sure its all good. Does not solve the problem, better yet, doesn't make a difference!!! Then I reinstalled the windows, changed my vista for XP, didnt solve it, its worse actualy. It does it only sometimes and only when certain programs r running (java, realplayer & other) and as time passes, the list grows bigger for some reason. Don't tell me its because the programs r significantly big, because it worked just fine for about a year and a half. Worse part about it ... It shuts down after 30 minutes (guessing the processor gets overheated). I checked the fan and it seems to be spinning pritty well and u can feel the air traveling. SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM????

P.S.: Not sure which pavilion it is, but it is a desktop not a laptop.

The noisy fan is most likely caused by a worn/faulty bearing. This causes the fan to vibrate in the bearing and spin slower and therefore cause overheating CPU problems.
The CPU fan needs to be replaced.

You can try cleaning the fan as too much dirt may have accumulated.

Newer HP Pavilion dv6000 turned off while in use and wont turn on

1.Start your computer and see if your hear your fan noise, and cannot see anything on screen then there is problem with your power supply.

2.If you cannot hear your fan noise, and do not see anything on screen, then there is problem with your motherboard

3.if you hear fan noise and can see something on screen, then it is the issue with your hard disk (very less cases)

Mostly it would be the 2nd case that you will have to get your motherboard replaced

Fan noise after a few minutes running.

Fans are typically a little noisey. If it's exceptionally loud or continues for a long time it may indicate the fan is no providing the proper cooling. Purchase a laptop cooling pad to place under the laptop while your useing it and make sure nothing is interfering with the airflow around the unit.

One of my fans has started making noise, how much time do i have to replace it? Am I right in thinking that it making noise that it needs to be replaced?

fan noises are usually caused by worn out fans. but can be also caused by IDE/power cables hitting the fan blades. you will have to open up the computer to see where the noise comes from.

if it is a faulty fan, replace it sooner than later as it will get louder and louder. then stop making noise all together when the fan fails.

Grinding fan noise HP dv6 1130TX

First, if you just purchased the unit, you should have the problem fixed by HP under warranty.
HP offers a extended 1 year from the date of purchase. Thats 2 years on startup problems.
You are correct on the noise comming from the fan.
This will not go away and may get worse.
If the fan slows down or stops when needed, the CPU will go for a walk.
Email HP customer care and log your problem.
Make sure you have reg. your unit first.

Strong noise notebook, CPU gets hot 75-80C

The fan may be faulty, it may have stopped or spinning slow.
Check the fan and clean dust/lint off the fan blades and heatsink fins. Spin the fan blades with your finger to see if it spins freely.
If necessary replace the fan.

Loud fan noise

hmm, it's very possible that the new fan is unable to spin fast enough to draw enough heat away fast enough. I'm guessing that this a separate video card and not the onboard video of the motherboard? and, is it the video card fan that is making all the noise?

Rattling Fan Noise

Unfortunately, even though the laptop is only 4 mths. old, sounds like the bearings in the fan are going out. I would have it replaced. If the fan fails, your processor will overheat and that could be problematic.
