Question about Canon PowerShot G7 Digital Camera

1 Answer

The Canon G7 of a friend was used in an Underwater Housing for UW-Photos. The O-ring of the Housing did not properly seal due to a sandparticle and saltwater got into the camera. I brought the camera already to a Camera Service Center, but they have not the necessary parts for repairing. Where can I send the camera for repair?

When I try to download photos from the Canon G7 to a Mac I get the "communications error" message.

Having gone two months without a response to my query, I assume my suggestion to use a card reader solved the problem.

I have a mv 930 digital video cam corder how to down load videos without mac

You have a couple of options besides finding a friend with a mac, and here they are: You will need to purchase an accessory for each solution that will allow you to connect your camera to your computer and download your videos.
1.You can purchase a firewire port for your computer (I'm assuming you have a desktop pc with an available expansion slot) and simply use a firewire cable to connect your camera to your computer.
This is an example of a firewire PCI card.

This option offers the highest quality results, but can be challenging and sometimes frustrating if you do not have the proper software to capture video.
2. For this second solution, you will use use an analog converter that takes the video-out signal from the AV terminal on your camera and converts it back to digital for your computer to record. This video provides an excellent demo of a product I have used in the past. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xcpiwl_pinnacle-dazzle-dvd-recorder-plus_tech
This product will come with all the accessories and software you will need to download your videos.
Good Luck!

Olympus 1030 SW Camera leaked through both the battery door seal and the usb door seal. Did my best to clean it up and dry it out. Camera was finicky in at first. After a day everything work great...

I have the same camera and has the same problem. Mine flooded twice and when I followed the normal dry it out, clean the seals, charge the battery, etc, etc... I was left with a camera that didn't work at all after the second flooding. I returned it to Olympus where they had to replace the motherboard and seals. My dive buddy also has the same camera, dived deeper and has had no problems with his flooding or fowling. Olympus was very good about fixing the problem and returning the camera quickly. If you get fixed or end up buying another underwater camera, I would recommend after each use underwater, especially in saltwater, cleaning the seals and applying very sparing amount of silicon gel on the seals. The gel will help protect the seals and add to the tightness of the seal. But, don't let it cake up in the camera. I use the gel to protect o-rings on underwater video camera housing seals and have had no problems with leaking. You can get the gel at most SCUBA or hardware stores.

Nikonos v with Nikon 15mm f/2.8N UW-Nikkor IC... > for sale

Good lord! That's a NICE underwater system you've got. What type of help are you asking for? Just from your equipment list, if everything is in good condition, you've got at least 1500.00 worth of stuff! A new 15mm sells for $2,240, the camera, new, $750.00, eiklite flash system is up there, the extra close up gear ain't cheap either! And a pelican case--well, if yer gonna go snorkeling or scuba, you're all set! The 28mm can be used for land lubbing or underwater. To properly prepare the camera, the most important thing is to check the condition of the o-ring around the film door. If any doubt, replace it!! The same applies with any other o-ring seal. *Properly* greased, an O-ring in good condition simply looks wet. Use a good quality, pure, silicone grease all over the ring and don't blob it on--It can be purchased just about anywhere. Check the o-rings on all the other equipment--same rule applies. Salt water damage is u-g-l-y. Before opening up the camera after being in salt water, rinse all equipment in fresh water and dry completely. Don't detach any cords or lenses until all are rinsed and dry! (When cameras and salt water come together improperly, think horror movie acid bath results--and you won't be far off) I used 36-picture rolls of film so I wouldn't have to open the cam as much. Heh, in the excitement of photoing fish, yer gonna burn some film.Hope I assisted you!---Rick

Danger of electrical shock from bathtub?

If the lights come on automatically then you are correct in the possiblity of shock though it is very low as there should be safety measures incorporated into the system for that not to happen in the advent of a malfunction........(but you never know). If the lights are turned on by a switch then leave the lights off and there is no rick due to the fact that no electricity will be conducted to the light.

Hey LELAH,
This lens is intended for a Nikon underwater camera which are branded as Nikonos cameras. These cameras are underwater 35mm cameras and this lens is and extreme wide angle lens to capture underwater scenic’s. This lens is rather expensive and of very high quality. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
