Click on FORMAT, then STYLES AND FORMATTING. Select the TOC 4 style and un-select BOLD in the text option. This should solve this issue. :-)

You can easily modify the formatting for a TOC. You will need to replace the current TOC - I'm assuming you are using the built-in reference to create your TOC.

Select Insert / Reference / Index and Tables. Click on the "Table of Contents" tab.

Click on <Modify>. Click on "TOC 3". Click on <Modify>. Click on the Bold icon to unselect the Bold attribute. Click on <OK> three times.

I am getting a TOC error on the left drive with new laser.

Table of Contents errors can be the result of bad compact disk, bad laser or the head cannot get into position to read the TOC, Make sure that the new laser is aligned correctly and that the head has no obstructions at either end of the rails. Last but not least you may want to make sure the laser is working and you can check that by using a camera like the one on your cell phone, With the cover off, insert a cd in the drive and have your camera pointed at the area of the laser. You should see the laser light on your camera.

How create a table of contents

I have 2013 but the principle is the same.

When making headings for your document use the predesigned Heading 1 heading 2 heading 3 heading 4

Select references and you should see table of contents, select automatic.

Once you do this Word will insert a TOC at the current cursor location.

Sony mdmx4

The recorder cannot read the table of contents on the disc.

You may have a bad disc but I think the disc might have been recorded on another MD deck which may have a different extended format recorded on the disc. Sony over time offered a lof of different recording options and some of their decks can read some of them while others cannot.

I'd check your player with another disc to see if this is the one disc you mention or all discs. if it is all discs the recorder has a problem due to a dirty laser or damaged head so it cannot read the table of contents.

What does TOC read mean, the cd does not spin

TOC stands for Table of Contents. On a MiniDisc recorder or CD recorder, a Table Of Contents MUST be written before a disc is usable. On A player, a TOC must be read before the unit knows where to find the songs. Sounds like the laser is NOT reading the TOC, so you will hear nothing until that is corrected (clean lens or replace unit). Try a storebought CD, as perhaps is doesn't like your own burned CD's and most units built before 2000 will not read your own CD's that you make.

When i inserted my mini disc it said TOC Reading then said Toc Error and C14. What is the problem?

Sounds like you lost power when you were finishing recording a disc. On a home unit it got unplugged before you had the TOC written, or on a battery unit the battery died when it was writing the TOC (table of contents) for the disk.

Jb 940 md player. Recording a full disc, always results in playback stopping around 38 mins. previously recorded discs will play back ok, so suspect record process not completing. When played in spare...

When you get done recording, do you wait until the "TOC" light stops flashing? If you cut off power before the Table Of Contents is written, then it can't find all your music. Even if you eject, it should still flash a little red TOC or UPDATE before it spits the disc out. Check for that. okay?
