You can connect the Cat 5 cable from your laptop to one of the ethernet ports from router to download. Or download from any computer to a  Jump drive then install to your lap top.

GETTING ON MY LAPTP: PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

This error message can be caused by a faulty connection to the hard drive or a faulty hard drive or a faulty disk controller.
Go into the BIOS configuration to see if it has detected the hard drive, if it is not detected that is why the laptop won't bootup.
To confirm or check if the hard drive is faulty, remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port (you may need assistance from a computer savy friend).
If this computer cannot see this as an external drive then it is faulty. If the computer can see this drive as an external drive and you can open the folders and files on the hard disk then the hard drive is OK and the fault is probably a faulty disk controller on the laptop. A faulty disk controller is part of the motherboard and the only fix is a replacement motherboard. This may not be a cost effective solution and it may be better to put your money towards a new laptop.

Complaining about hard disk not inserted

The problem is either the BIOS is not detecting the hard drive or the hard drive is faulty or the disk controller is faulty. Check the BIOS setting to see if it has detected the hard disk, and if there is a hard drive diags run it to test the hard drive. Try reseating the hard drive and if it doesn't work, remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter. Plug this adapter into a working computer's USB port and if this computer detects this as an external hard drive and you can view and open the various folders and files, then the hard drive is OK. If you haven't any files or folders in the hard drive, then format the hard drive from this computer to test this hard drive. If the hard drive is OK then the fault is probably the disk controller. If the hard drive is faulty, then you need a new hard drive in your computer.

If you are using an intel wireless card (such as the default wirelesscard coming with Lenovo laptops) you can download an "Intel WirelessConnection Utility" from the following intel download centre atfollowing location. Select appropriate operating system and downloadtype as "Software Applications" to download the connection utility. Install it.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+WiFi+Products&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+PRO%2fWireless+3945ABG+Network+Connection&ProdId=2259&LineId=1784&FamilyId=1783

This tool from intel detects the available wifi networks and collectsthe authentication details and automatically connects when the networkdisconnects due to signal dropping.

You can think of changing the desktop/laptop network to "private"instead of "public" to avoid frequent signal dropping. Try to work froma place which is close to the router so tat the wifi signal is strong.

Dell sk-8115 not recognized on boot up. After soft boot it works

hi im Dyanne.. on th 1st screen at bootup press th desired key to display th BIOS setup. on some machines you will see a brief notice on th screen as it comes to life stating which key to press. (ie. delete, F2 or esc etc) if not consult your instruction manual. you will get to a blue screen headed CMOS. now you need to setup th BIOS to recognize th presence of th new h/d. this will enable you to auto detect th h/d. go to th 1st in th list (cmos settings) and where it says PRIMARY MASTER click on it and enter and this will auto detect it. press F10 then Y and enter. this will now access your h/d and boot normally. good luck and merry christmas .. Dyanne xx
