Question about IBM ThinkPad 600X Notebook
I had a lack of sound when I bought a second hand Thinkpad 600e on Ebay.
I discovered the answer by reading the online Lenovo 600e manual. The Function (Fn) (bottom left) key together with the Backspace key works as a Mute key. Similarly, the Function key together with the Page Up and Page Down keys are volume control keys.
That's how I solved it for my problem.

I just encountered the same problem 1 of my speaker just went dead.So i turned my laptop n unscrewd the whole thing.then i connected a dumpy speaker on to the speaker which went dead.i heard no sound but wen i connected to the other speaker the dumpy was also giving my the output.so i disconnected the dead speaker from the sound card and cross connected it with the other speaker n wallaaa.it worked wat i deduced that it is a hardware problem not a driver one.or try connecting a dumpy speaker tot he wire terminating on your speakers of ur laptop..hhope u may get sum help

Check device manager and see if it shows up there. if you have a yellow question mark or red x, install or re-install driver by right clicking on your sound card and uninstall and scan for hardware changes.
Please let me know how you make out.
