I have the same problem. The sound was working fine one day, the next gone. The device manager shows no problems, volume is up, mute is off, I just don't know what to do. Any ideas?

    Thanks :)

Hi I have an IBM 600x Thinkpad. I recently down loaded WindowsXP on to it. The USB on the docking station works fine now but I get no sound at all from the speaker or head phones. The speakers did work when I had NT installed previous to this but had no USB function.

All the obvious sound levels are correct and mute is off.

I did send a command to set CRYSETUP, I thought that this would fix it, but still no joy.

I am not a computer whiz so please explain in simple terms how I can fix this. Thank you. Best regards Jim.

I have an IBM Thinkpad 600x and I'm experiencing the same problem. I didn't install any new operating systems or anything. One day my sound just stopped working out of nowhere. I've looked everywhere for a solution that works but I can't seem to find one.

I had a lack of sound when I bought a second hand Thinkpad 600e on Ebay.

I discovered the answer by reading the online Lenovo 600e manual. The Function (Fn) (bottom left) key together with the Backspace key works as a Mute key. Similarly, the Function key together with the Page Up and Page Down keys are volume control keys.

That's how I solved it for my problem.

Check device manager and see if it shows up there. if you have a yellow question mark or red x, install or re-install driver by right clicking on your sound card and uninstall and scan for hardware changes.
Please let me know how you make out.

No sound ibm thinkpad t30 windows xp sp3

After checking the obvious (volume control mute not checked, volume slider not all the way down, and volume button on keyboard is not pressed to mute) -

Go into Control Panel, system, hardware tab, device manager, Sound and Video Game controllers, and delete the sound card. Reboot your system. Windows will find the sound card and re-install it.

Hope this helps.

Thinkpad T41 with XP-sp3: No sound / working fine until yesterday

Hi. Try plugging in an external speaker just to test the issue. It could be just the speaker of the laptop is having the problem. If you were able to hear the sound from the external speaker then the problem is the built in speaker of the computer. If there is no sound coming out to external speakers. Try to reinstall the driver of your soundcard.

No sound

I think the Thinkpad is made by Lenovo, go to their site, enter the specifications for your laptop and search for an audio driver.

Download and install the audio driver. This should fix your problem.

If you would like me to do this for you please provide the model number.

FN pg up pg up. It that is not it try settings> control panel> sounds and multimedia> audio> volume Make sure the volume control and wave sliders are a least past the halfway point. Also check that the mute box is empty. If that dose not work then in that same window try > Advanced and make sure those settings are correct.

No sound

i think you need to reinstall the sound driver and check whether it appears in the CONTROL PANEL->SOUND AND AUDIO DEVICES. When you click the sound and audio device, your sound driver name should appear. If problem persists then it might be hardware problem.

Ibm thinkpad 600x brightness control

There is no otherway. becase the slides sends direct signal to inverter for adjusting brightness. You can adjust brightness the
other way ,through graphic cards property, but that is only adjustment for the color and if you do make it bright, you'll be loosing the vivid color..not so natural.
