Rocstor icon disappears from desktop and light is half orange/green

click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or

if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver

sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable

just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again,

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems

if this fails to fix the problem
you might have to install a usb 2 or 3 card they are cheap and easy to install you can buy these on Ebay very cheap

hope this helps you

Front inputs? (green and pink not working)

I thought the front was for a microphone and headset. I don't think those are speaker jacks. Look closely at the icon that is next to the pink and green on the front, does it show the icon of a microphone and headset?

Normally the speaker jack will show and arrow going out which means sound going out. If you look at the speaker port in the back of the computer it is normally the light green port. Notice the icon on it. Does the icon on the front look the same as the one on the back? Is the color on the front the same as the one on the back? I think you're plugging into the wrong port.

Make sure you have the volume up in your Audio/Sound properties and make sure you don't have the speakers on mute. Also make sure you turn the speakers on and turn the volume up on them.

The appearance of my icons changed, they now have a small blue square with two right arrow symbyls in the square.

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Windows XP
Change Default Icons in Windows XP
  1. Step 1 Start Windows in your normal fashion.
  2. Step 2 Click the Start menu and select the "My Computer" option. Alternately, you can double-click the "My Computer" desktop icon if you've enabled it to appear on the desktop.
  3. Step 3 Double-click on your hard drive to open the directory.
  4. Step 4 Find the program for which you wish to change the associated icon. You'll need to know its location on the hard drive. If you don't know where it is, you can use the Start menu "Search" feature to locate it.
  5. Step 5 Right-click on the file, and click the "Properties" menu option. This will open the Properties menu for the file.
  6. Step 6 Click the "Change Icon" button. If there is no "Change Icon" button, you will need to create a desktop icon instead. To do so, cancel out of the Properties menu and right-click the file again. This time, select "Send to -> Desktop (create shortcut)."
  7. Step 7 Click on one of the icons that appears in the list. If the icon you want isn't on the list, click the "Browse" button to search for more icons.
  8. Step 8 Click "OK" once you've chosen the icon you'd like to use.
  9. Step 9 Click "Apply" to confirm your changes, and then click "OK" to close the window.
  10. Step 10 Wait a moment to see the icon change. There are times, like when a lot of system resources are in use, when icon changes can take a moment to appear.

No sound comming from audio volume

First check if you have the speakers pin (green) connected in tothe proper green socket on the back of the computer.

If yes, then right click on the sound / speaker icon that is near to your clock on the right bottom, and click "Adjust audio properties"

Now click the sounds tab in the audio properties.

Select any sound from the list under program events, and click the play button near the browse button. It should play a sound.

If you are not able to hear any sound BUT the play icon changes to the stop icon for a few  moments, it means the sounds play alright but something is wrong with the speakers or the connections.

I have windows vista n whenever i create a shortcut to desktop the internet explorer icon appears n when i ngo to properties i can only choose from the icons on the computer but i want to know if i can...

If you drag the icon from the address bar in IE to the desktop, it should change the icon when it is copied to the desktop.

otherwise -

go to the website and right-click on the icon you want to use and save the icon to disk. Download an icon editing tool and load the icon and save it as a .ico file. Then right-click - properties on the shortcut and then change icon and browse to the icon you just saved.
