Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

1 Answer

Have Emachine T6528. Was running fine until it would shut off while watching video. Fan runs but display says to check cable. I have tripled checked all connections, cleaned out dust and even bought a new Nvidia PCI GeForce 8400 GS and computer still won't boot up. Can't get into bios. Don't know what else to do. Please help. Can't get anyone from Emachine to respond. Thanks.

Return unit to place of purchase, this is clearly a manufacture defect. The warranty will cover full replacement, do not allow them to attempt repair on the current item because you will be back and forth until warranty runs out.

In my opinion you have a faulty power supply, replacing only the fan may not solve your problem. Try replacing the power supply.

Have emachines T6528 graphics problem

if it doesn't boot at all .( this is the reason that you see that message on the screen it means that no video signal came out from the computer ) ..try to change the cable that leads from the pc to the monitor first ...and if the problem its still on ...it have to be something related with the Ram memory or the CPU ....cause these 2 are the only things that can make a system to do not boot at all ...if any other device will not work ..the pc will still boot to bios ..or will still show the devices it finds on start ...even if is not able to succeed with the operating system boot...
so ...either it boots and you can not see anything cause the cable its damaged...( very possible cause this is the case it shows that message ...when the cable its shorted ..or unplugged ) or it doesn't starts at all cause of the memory or CPU ...

Emachine T6528 problem: My monitor wont boot up went i start the computer!

Easiest solution is to connect your monitor to another PC, if still nothing, then your monitor is toast.

If you are getting no display at all, and you tried a PCI video card and the onboard, most likely it is your monitor.

This is going to sound really dumb, but just incase, check to make sure both cables are snug in the monitor, I get calls daily at work with people telling me their monitor has died, only to find out that the power cord in the rear or the monitor is not completely snug.

Hi rebecca_fran,
Well the system is shutting down for a reason but before you run off & buy a new CPU fan I want you to try something.
Unplug the power cord from the PC. Open your case & ground your self by simply touching any bare metal. (The bottom of the case will do).
Please remove the memory currently in your system. If you have never done this before please check within the manual for your eMachine. (There should be a section on how to install memory).
You can also click on this uTube link, it’s a bit long but you can skip through the video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsXNT6fnHmM&feature=related
If you have some canned air blow out the memory slots.
(Do not place your fingers on the memory contacts at any time).
Re-seat the memory, firmly but gently. Leave the case opened & plug in the power cord. Turn on the PC. See if the fan runs & the system doe’s not shut down. If it still does replace the CPU fan.

Your PC uses an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ / 2.3 GHz CPU.
Here is a replacement AMD CPU fan & assembly.
http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/std/sku=dual_core_cpu_fan.html

The CPU will come with thermal tap on its underside. (No need to buy thermal grease).
(Make sure you remove the old thermal grease from the top of the CPU). Use a clean rag with a little alcohol on it. (Not dripping). Allow time for drying. Do not scratch the CPU surface.

Good luck rebecca_fran!
Mike

Check all power cables plugged into M/board if these are correct
remove all hard ware
hard drives / cd player and anything else
except for video and memory and test to see if it boots. If it does, one of the removed hardware is faulty if it does not then you have M/board failure

Emachine Will not boot

different beeping patterns are codes which indicate what part of the hardware has failed (ram, video card, cpu, ect). the fan failure would not cause beeps, and would not cause the cpu to fail unless already in windows. if you could find out the manufacturer of your motherboard you could check with them about what the paticular pattern of beeps which you are getting mean.

EMachine Help

If you took the pc in to a repair shop and they diagnosed that as the problem. You will have to install the new vieo adapter in the computer. Then plug in the monitor to see something on the screen. You can go into the bios to disable the other. Now if you are going by hear say and an actual tech did not check your system it does not necessarily have to be the video adapter at fault. You will need to have it checked out to validate that. Now if you did install the card you will have to plug the monitor in the new adapter. If the problem is still there you have another issue with the pc. Please comment on what the case may be. I would be able to better help you.

Hope this helps you
