Question about Apple iPod touch

Ipod touch wont show up in my computer at all

My friend gave me his ipod touch because he got an iphone it worked fine on his laptop but when I plug it into my mac it wont do anything, It doesn't charge and nothing pops up at all. but when i plug it into to wall with the same cord it charges just fine. I also tried different ports in my computer and nothing. I also restored all the settings so now all it does when i turn it on is have a usb cord pointing to an itunes icon. help? this sucks.

You need to use itunes to communicate with your ipod touch...you can download it from here:www.apple.com/itunes after this,when ipod is detected,since it shows the screen mentioned above,you will have to restore it using itunes.

Computer will not detect ipod


I had this issue with the new iPhone 4S (iPod worked fine, but no iPhone sync in iTunes, although I could see it in My Computer). I found many suggested solutions from uninstall/reinstall iTunes Helper, check Bonjour service to ensure it's running, deleting the driver associated with the iPod... none of them worked. Then one day iTunes wanted to update... I let it... everything magically worked after that.
Sorry if you've already tried the updater or a whole new install of the latest iTunes... sometimes the simplest explanation is the fix, so I had to throw it out there ;)

I have an ipod touch that is locked, my computer wont let me restore it what do i do?

1. Press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake button. (the power off option will appear, ignore it)
2. When the apple logo appears let go of the sleep/wake button (keep holding the home button.)
3. After a few seconds you should see the connect to iTunes image (you can now let go of the home button.)
4. Open iTunes .
5. iTunes should automatically recognize your iPod, iPad, or iPhone once the image comes up, if not unplug your iPod, iPad, or iPhone and plug it back in.
6. Restore your iPod, iPad, or iPhone by clicking the "Restore" button.

My windows dosent reconize my ipod touch. when i plug it into my usb port it shows scanner and camera wizard


That means, your computer recognizes your iPod. But if what you're saying is that, iTunes doesn't open when you plug your iPod touch to the computer, it really won't, unless you selected the option "Automatically sync when this iPod touch is connected" from Device window in iTunes.

Also, make sure first that you have the latest iTunes installed in your computer. You can download it here. If iTunes is alreaady installed in your computer, simply open it and you'll find your iPod touch on the side column under Devices.

My ipod touch wont work


If iPod touch won't turn on, or if the display freezes or doesn't respond
  • iPod touch may need charging. See "Charging the Battery" in the iPod touch Features Guide.
  • Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  • If that doesn't work, turn off iPod touch and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPod touch for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  • If that doesn't work, reset iPod touch. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If iPod touch continues to freeze or not respond after you reset it
  • Reset iPod touch settings. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. All your preferences are reset, but your data and media are left untouched.
  • If that doesn't work, erase all content on iPod touch. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > "Erase All Content and Settings." All your preferences are reset, and all your data and media are removed from iPod touch.

To reset the iPhone or iPod Touch, press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously at the same time for at least ten seconds, then the LCD display will clear and the Apple logo appears on the black background. When Apple logo appears, reset is done.

Have a ipod touch, but passcode is fogotten.


you can reset its password....but you'll lose all your data. Here's how...
  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
  2. Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.
  3. Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB to iPhone, the device should then power on.

    Note: If you see the message "Charging... Please Wait" , let the device charge for at least 10 minutes to ensure the battery has some charge and then start with step 2 again.
  4. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo.
  5. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message:

    If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, then disconnect the USB cable from iPhone and repeat steps 3-6.

I have an Ipod Classic ( the newest version). It hasn't given me any problems until I let my friend use my Itunes to put msic on his new Ipod shuffle. Worked fine for him but now my computer wont recognize...


Try unplugging and plugging it back in, this happens to every ipod user once in a while. Try plugging it in a different USB port. Let me know how it goes.

You may also see the "Connect to iTunes" screen on your iPhone or iPod touch:

Update to the latest version of iTunes
To see if you have the latest version of iTunes, open iTunes and:
Windows: Choose Help > Check for Updates Mac: Choose iTunes > Check for Updates

Restart your computer Simply restarting the computer can clear up certain issues that could prevent iPhone or iPod touch from being restored. After restarting, try restoring the device again in iTunes.
USB Troubleshooting Connect iPhone or iPod touch to a different USB port on your Mac or Windows PC. USB 2.0 ports that are built-in to the computer are preferred over a hub. If iPhone or iPod touch were connected to USB ports on the front of the computer, try connecting them to rear USB ports. After doing this, try to restore the device in iTunes.
If this fails, Restore on a different computer. If the issue is not resolved with the above steps, try to restore on a different computer. Ensure that the computer you are restoring on has USB 2.0 ports, the latest version of iTunes, and that you are connecting directly to the computer.
Advanced Steps
Make sure you have admin access

If your still having problems estore using a new user account Create a new user account on your computer and try to restore while logged in as the new user. iTunes will download a new version of the software restore file. After creating the new user, log in to that account and open iTunes and attempt to restore to see whether the issue persists in this new user.

Windows Vista and Windows XP
From the Start menu, choose Control Panel. Open User Accounts. Select Create a new account and follow the instructions to complete the account setup process. Once the new account is created, choose Log Off from the Start menu. Log in to the newly created user account.
When a restore issue is specific to a user, it is likely due to an unusable .ipsw file. The ".ipsw" files are what iTunes uses to restore your iPod or iPhone. If those files are unusable, then try deleting them so iTunes can download a new copy of them. Creating a new user will also cause new .ipsw restore files to be downloaded in the new user. You can find the ".ipsw" files in these locations:
Windows XP iPod touch: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates (If you don't see the Application Data folder, you may need to show hidden files by opening (My Computer) Click on Folder Options. in that window click on the view tab, and make sure that show hidden files is selected.
Windows Vista iPod touch: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates (If you don't see the AppData folder, you may need to show hidden files)
1. Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options. 2. Click the View tab. 3. Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.

After removing and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes, try restoring iPhone or iPod touch again in the origonal user account.




As an added note, If running Microsoft Windows XP and the issue is resolved on another computer, but you continue to experience difficulties on your original computer, you may want to update or reinstall your Windows USB drivers and then try restoring iPhone or iPod touch again.

I cant get into my itouch


If you don't have the original computer the iPhone synced with, the only solution is to force your iPod Touch into recovery mode and then restore it. You will lost all the data on the iPod Touch, but after this method is done, everything will work. You can find the steps to solving this problem here:
