Base on the information given to me.
I think your computer is on sleeping mode.
first thing check if the video cable is not loose connecting the pc.
because what would happend, if it is loos it would turn on and off at times.
The other thing you can do.
right click on the desktop.
go to properties
go to screen saver
click on power
adjust the time you want your monitor to shut off.

The Viewsonic VX2235WM has a known issue with the power supply going out. The flashing power light is the classic symptoms of this issue. Check out our web site at: www.ccl-la.com. We have a step by step repair guide posted that will guide to doing the repair yourself. It involves changing a few capacitors on the power supply. If you can solder then you should be able to do the repair yourself. If you don't want to do the repair we do offer a repair service for $35 plus return shipping. If you have any additional questions just let us know at: email@example.com
I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

The problem can be in the backlight inverter circuits, look fo bad caps with bulging tops, look to see if you do have 12vdc feeding the inverter circuits. See some examples of failed monitors here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

More likely to have bad caps in the power supply, that is the first place to check for bad caps with bulging top, it can also be bad inverter circuits, or bad lamps, open it up and post back what you see so we can guide you further, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
