Question about Canon Powershot A1000IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

Canon Powershot A1000-IS stuck on zoom plus shutter problem.

When you turn the camera on, it zooms to max, and you cannot turn it back. Also, the shutter will not release. On/off works fine, and all dials appear to be working O.K.. Also tried replacing batteries to re-set - no luck. Any suggestions? Any kind of re-set feature? THANK YOU!

Canon A620 is taking black images/ Can't see images on screen

First try pressing the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. If that didn't fix it... A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

How do I activate digital zoom on my canon S3IS

I believe there is a ring around the button the shutter button (the button you press to take the photos. Your sort of push it left or right (near or far). The digital zoom should activate after it goes past its optical zoom range. Push it only slightly to slow down the zoom process.

most likely cause of this problem is a stuck or defective zoom control. I have seen this one or twice. you may be able to disassemble the camera and free the zoom control if it is stuck, but it also may need to be replaced.

Frozen lens and shutter

Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!
