I have this microphone plugged into my laptop (IBM Thinkpad running Windows XP) and have tested it a couple of ways (Skype test call, Sound Recorder) but there does not seem to be any sound getting through.
The microphone setting on my computer is not set to mute and the volume is turned all the way up - the default microphone device says it is using Intel Integrated Audio.
Go to your default settings menu at the very top of the menu in the all programs. Check in there and make sure that your default recording device is the GE Microphone, if it is not, make that the default.

I got a microphone today to talk to my husband overseas...its a GE like 14.00 microphone and I configured everything and plugged it into the back port and the front port and nada. I dont know what else to do! There are no batteries with it, just a wire and the actual mic itself...there is no light to tell me that its working. I can hear my husband fine but he cant hear me. This is a brand new computer like a month old from Dell and Im about ready to hurt someone. Can anyone help?
