Question about Boating
Do you have a digital gauge or a analog gauge? Analog gauge has a needle that points at numbers in a circle. Analog gauges are water pressure gauges. There is a water pickup on the transom of your boat or on the lower unit itself. the water pickup called a pitot on the transom looks like a finger with a rubber hose that goes through the transom to gauge. the biggest problem with this style is they stopped up or the hose breaks check with compressed air at low pressure.to much pressure will blow up gauge. gauge will jump up if the pitot or hose is not stopped up or broken. the water pickup on the lower unit is a hole to pickup water as it goes through the water it is eather stopped up or the hose on the upper portion of the lower unit is broken or off. again test with compressed air at low pressure. Digital gauges have a transducer that spins throught the water. the only test for it is making sure all connection are good and no broke wires. if connection and wire is good then the cheapest componet is the transducer replace it first.
