It would be great if I can have the model of the printer.
You can try to reinstall the ink cartridge and clean the printer head.

If a printhead fails or needs attention,

Make sure the printhead is correctly seated. If this is not the problem, the most

likely cause of failure is that the printhead contacts need to be cleaned. You will

    need the following cleaning materials:

    • Clean, soft, lint-free material that will not come apart or leave fibres when

damp (a coffee filter, for example)

    • Distilled or filtered water

    • Paper towels

Make sure the printer is powered on, then do the following:

    1. Open the front hinged flap at the right of the printer.

    2. Open the second (back) part of the flap and lift it back fully. The print

carriage will move to the left and then back to the right. Wait for it to stop.

When the carriage has stopped moving, unplug the power cable from the

    printer.

3.Pull the printhead cover up and towards you, so that the hook at the front

unlatches itself, and then push the whole cover back, so that the printheads

    are exposed.

4.Remove the failed printhead by lifting the small handle at the top front and

using it to pull the printhead vertically up and out of the printer.

5.Ensure that no tape is covering the printhead contacts. If the tape is present,

    remove it.

    6. Gently wipe the printhead contacts with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth.

    7. If the printhead contacts are still dirty slightly moisten the cloth with distilled water and continue softly wiping

the contacts until they are clean.

8.Place the printhead on a paper towel, the nozzle plate facing up, and leave

it to dry for at least five minutes.

    9. While the printhead is drying, clean the contacts inside the carriage in the

    same way.

10.When both the printhead and the contacts inside the carriage are dry, reinsert

the printhead by lowering it into place and return the small handle to

its lower position. Press down firmly and evenly on both the front and the

back of the printhead to make sure it is correctly seated.

11.Pull the printhead cover towards you, ensuring that the hook at its front edge

latches onto the tab, and then push it away from you to close the cover.

12.Plug in the printer power cable.

13.Close the rear part and then the front part of the outer flap.

You may also check the User manual for the cleaning process but even if these does not work then the problem is with the cartridge itself. You may have to return this cartridge and get another one.

  • Sai Kiran Camsarapalli Sep 08, 2009

Okay now we can confirm the issue is with the cartridge itself. The cartridge you have received is faulty with the circuit in it. You can get it replaced by taking it to the store where you purchased it from.

My TX550W ran out of Black Ink (T103) and I replaced it with a Genuine Epson Cartridge compatible with my printer (73N), My computer status monitor/ink check on the printer shows the black ink is now full...

Sometimes the ink does take a while to come from the cartridge to the print head. Performing 1 head cleaning procedure may fix this. But only do this once, anything after is just wasting ink. Also make sure no part of the air tab sticker has blocked the air hole in the cartridge. Have a look at the new one you have to find the hole. Its just under the sticker you take off before installing it into the printer.
I hope this helps Regards GM

Printer has been idle for several weeks. When I came to use it the printing is broken and faded looking. How do I clean the cartridges?

HP Deskjet 5550 Printer.

The deskjet printers should not be kept idle.

At least once in two or three days, you can take one page print out.

This has to be done, otherwise, the inks both Black and colour will get frozened and sometimes it will become dry at the catridge mouth.

Black Ink is 56 and Colour is 57.

Solution :

01. Manually remove both catridges from the printer carefully.

02. Shake the catridges with full force pointing towards ground. You can find out now, that ink is coming out from the catridges which was frozen or dried up.

03. Clean the cartridge drive with a nice cloth and cleaning liquid.

04. Re install both catridges and take a test print out.

05. Recommended to have a service contract with local HP Authroized printer vendor to have a regular maintenance at least once in a month.

Replaced color cartiage, now only one color prints, red? Help

Try to check the level of your ink in your color catridge maybe is running low or empty then if its empty then remove the catridge then replace another color catridge full of ink then run your printer again. If you successfully installed new ink catridge then it will automatically reset the level of your ink monitor to full.

Printing light blue will full ink

its either the catridge head is bad or yr new ink isnt too good although its new it still can go bad. now try using menthylated spirit sucked in a tooth brush thats not too hard . use it to clean the inside of the cartridge head. that is those spots inside. cos atimes dirty could cause such problems. so try it out.
hope this helps
thanks
