Question about Sony Televison & Video

1 Answer

Sony 52 XBR-4: When screen is dark (ie movie credit run, dark scenes on satillite TV and Blu-Ray movies) screen is split vertically in middle with left side a darker shade than the right side. I can decrese the difference between the two sides of the screen by lowering the brightness level to about 50, but the picture quality is not what I want (llike setting at 62-64). Even at the 50 setting the two halves of the screen are different.

I have tried changing cables and resetting the TV per instruction provided through on-line chat with sony rep. This did not work. When I spoke with Sony, they replied that if my problem does not look like examples provided on-line, I am to call a local service tech. Is it possible that I could still receive a new panel at no cost?

I have reset to the factory settings per advice from sony chat rep. Did not work. The problem persists no matter what or how components are cabled. I have tried new cables, connecting PS3 directly to TV in another input (input 2) etc. My basic setup is Directv and PS3 into Sony STR-DG720 receiver via HDMI cables and receiver connected to TV HDMI input 1. Wii attached directly to component 1 input on TV. Screen problems (darker shade on left half of screen) present for all components and .

Disconnect all the devices from the TV then try reconnecting devices using differenty type of cables such as HDMI, components, etc.

After reconnecting the devices, you may try resetting the TV to the original factory settings.

If the issue persists then the LCD panel of the TV requires to be replaced.

Sony is offering LCD replacement service at no cost for the TVs that are less than 18 months old.

I have a Sony Bravia 52 inch HDTV that has a line down the middle of the picture in some shows, particularly when action is panning across a scene. Is this a common problem?

Check with a different CD or a different channel. Sometimes some,

secret codes are displayed to find the pirated CD. Any how check in different program channels. This is not TV problem.

If you have DVD try a similar action movies in CD and play to satisfy!

Sony bravia dims randomly

There should be a setting in the menu of the TV to turn off the auto dim feature (used for adjusting the brightness of the picture depending on ambient room lighting) I don't have a Sony LCD here with me to walk you through the menu settings, but I am certain it is there somewhere. (Chased this issue for the wife who had the same displeasure you're having)
