When i put oven into clean oven door latch keeps locking and unlocking door never goes into clean

Hello,

You didn't specify the make or model number of your oven, but most self-cleaning ovens have an electrical interlock that holds the cleaning latch in the closed position while the oven self-cleans.

The most common issues with this function are a mis-positioned micro switch, a bad micro switch, a mis-adjusted latch pawl (the piece on the latch that engages the micro switch) or a problem with the control board.

Other possibilities include loose or corroded/burnt wiring or other poor connections.

Door will not close without slamming

Possible causes - door switch, or door switch assembly out of adjustment; plastic latch guides on door switches worn; door hinge worn, causing door to be out of alignment. If it's the last one, the unit needs to be checked for microwave radiation.

How do I turn off?

Just open the oven door and you'll see a button that the door actually pushes against... with your finger hold the button in and turn the oven on to the self clean cycle... While still holding the button wait a few seconds and then turn the self cleaning cycle off, this should disengage the door latch... Always keep the button engaged until the self clean cycle is off...

F5 - E1 Self clean latch will not lock

1. If door latched:
  1. Disconnect power from unit.
  2. Check wires and connectors from control to door switch, then from door switch to control. If no damage to wires and all connectors okay, proceed to step C.
  3. Replace door switch.
  4. Re-apply power.
  5. Press and hold any key down for 1 minute to clear F5 failure code from memory. F2 will appear. Press CANCEL and observe for 1 minute to ensure operation is correct.
2. If door not latched:
  1. Disconnect power from unit.
  2. Check wires and connectors from control to latch switch, then from latch switch to control. If no damage to wires and all connectors okay, proceed to step C.
  3. Repeat steps A and B for door switch.
3. Measure door switch (door open = switch open small low voltage terminals). Replace switch if defective.
4. Measure latch switch (unlatch = switch open, CAUTION - oven light contacts are closed). Replace switch if defective.
5. If corrections are made in any step, reconnect power to control. Press and hold any key for 1 minute to clear R failure code from memory. F2 will appear. Press CANCEL and observe for 1 minute to ensure operation is correct.
6. If failure remains, disconnect power and replace control.

Note: Applies to all F5-E... codes.

Can't close the hood. Latch won't catch.

Be sure the inside hood release is completely dis-engaged...spray something like PB Blaster (auto parts stores AND Walmart...:) on the latch assembly...this is an excellent lubrication for your latch...being sure to release the inside handle should re-align the latch to allow it to catch...Hope this helps...:)

Good Morning: The self cleaning mode engages, locks the oven on the bottom, but does not clean. On the top, the latch does not engage at all on the self cleaning mode. What to do?

A safety feature on the oven door latch is preventing it from going on to clean. Find the reason the door wont latch on top section and it should clean then.

We know your controls are working asking the clean cycle to start because your lower door latches.

SO

Some things to check :

1. Bent or worn out door latch or striker or catch assembly
2. No power to motor to move latch assemble
3. Board for self cleaning may have fuse out or be bad entirely.
4. Motor assembly that moves the latch could be bound up or worn out

If this helps you understand your problem please rate me as high as you can and thank you for using fix ya. Good Luck and God Bless.

GLV BK-2 top latch broken at fish neck when retrieving.

The latch engages the interlock switches. If its broken it won't work. You will have to look inside and see if they have switches on both the top and bottom to see if you have swap them.

You should be able to order replacement latches.

The safety switches keep the oven from working with the door open so you should not disable even one of them.

Oven door that wont come unlocked

sounds like you have a latch/lock issue. the unit seems to think the door is still currently locked, preventing proper operation, i would try to see if you can locate the door/light switch and manually trip it with your hand(turning off light). then while keeping depressed activate the self clean mode again, the machine will try to engage the lock/latch, as soon as it does then cancel it and it will return back to a normal resting location. you must keep the light switched pushed in order for this to work correctly
