Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
When I plug the ac power into a wall jack the green light goes on but when I plug the adapter into the back of the laptop, the cord powers off. I can't get the laptop to power up either. I have tried removing the battery and powering it up just with the power cord but that doesn't work either.
It seems like when the power cord is put into the laptop, the laptop shorts it out and shuts the power off.
Hey carputers.. changing the power cord/ transformer has nothing to do with i got a dell latitude D610 and another one but just a D600 .. the D610 works perfectly but when i take that adapter and plug it into my D600 the adapter just shuts off..

You will have to try with a different power supply, it seems to be a faulty transformer. It doesnt have nothing to do with the battery itself

Yes, bad transformer in power cord , replace power cord/ transformer.

there is a small metal inside the dc socket that you need to pull towards the centre so i makes better contact with the charger

Tienes un problema con tu cargador el cual tiene un voltaje de referencia que no esta entregando,, y por eso no entra la carga de tu bateria.. la manera mas facil de resolver esto es cambiarlo . economico y barato seria esto,,

Actually, run a windows repair. That fixes the problem but we don't have a clue what's causing it. (we have this issue with one of our images).

Most likely, if 3 different known good AC adapters will not power the system, then there is a problem with the DC in power jack on the motherboard. The easiest fix is a motherboard replacement (about $100 on ebay)
