I have hp officejet 6110 all- in- one and cannot scan page of text into my computer. Printer gives message "Scanning error. Cannot connect to computer."

If you have updated to Internet Explorer 7 or 8, the HP Director program won't work correctly without the update patch from HP Support. Go to HP Support, put in the model number of the device and search for drivers. Look for a special driver or patch for Internet Explorer and download and install. This will allow the HP director to run from the desktop. Once it is started you should restart your printer and make sure it is connected with a USB, or if it is connected directly to the router for your home network, you should uninstall the printer, then reinstall the printer and see if the computer sees it this time with the new driver on the hard drive. Once it installs, see if the HP Director can be started from the desktop and choose scan document, It will ask what you want to scan and where do you want to scan it to. Click document or picture...I have mine set up to scan text documents as PDF's and Pictures as JPGs. I then set it to "Save to file" when the scanning is done, whether it is one file or many, the director will then ask what folder you want to save the files to. That's all there is to it. Uninstall and Reinstall the software

1 On the Windows taskbar, click Start, choose Programs or All Programs
(XP), choose Hewlett-Packard, choose hp officejet 6100 series, then
choose HP Uninstaller.
2 Follow the directions on the screen.
3 If you are asked whether you would like to remove shared files, click No.
4 After the program finishes removing the software, disconnect your
HP OfficeJet, and restart your computer.
5.Do not reconnect the Officejet now
6 To reinstall the software, insert the HP OfficeJet 6100 Series CD-ROM into
your computer’s CD-ROM drive, and follow the instructions that appear.
7.After the software is installed reconnect the usb cable and allow the
computer to detect and install the software

Keep getting scanning error message


How do you have the HP6110 connected to your system? This problem can sometimes be caused by using to long a cable between the computer and the multifunction printer. I would use a short cable (6 foot or less) to make sure that it's not a communications problem. This ususally manifests itself with an error message while scanning although the printing function work ok.

Can't scan with HP Officejet 6110 from document holder


well u can try:

1/uninstall and install printer/scanner drivers and software.

2/ replace the usb cable.

3/make sure that there is no damage va been maen on th AIO cuz u need a warrantly in this case.

Scanning


Try using the scan program provided by Hp already installed in your computer.
Double click on "My PC" select the OfficeJet scanner icon and do a the right click, and then order to a scan.
