Hello. Look on the side of the drive. there will be a little like tab sticking out. If it is write protected, slide the tab to the opposite side until it stops. that should take the write protect off. Good luck !

You failed to mention what operating systems are involved. What does the work computer use as an operating system. The file system format of the USB may be say as an example ntfs windows while as a hypothetical the work computer could be apple o/s using a different file system or even maybe a unix system. You may need to reformat the usb stick to be the format file system used by the work computer. Also there could be a policy in place to prevent usb sticks working on work computers to protect intellectual property or to protect against virus transferance.

Hi I have a transcend jetflash d33193 4Gb flash that won't format. It tells me the flash is write protected and i don't she any physical lock. i have tried every possible thing i know on it but it...

The message which you are facing while formatting your flash drive maybe be due to below reasons.
1) It could be due to virus. Try to scan your flash drive with your anti-virus and check.
2) Second reason would be when you connecting your flash drive it may include some autorun files which starts its own when you connect your flash drive and because that file is running it wont allow to be formatted, so try to delete all the files including in your flash drive and than try formatting.
or
There is right protect switch on many pen drives , a physical write protect switch which enables you to either allow writing on the disk or disallow writing on the disk.

All you need to do is toggle the right protect switch and you would be able to write files on your pen drive.

I cannot delete a full list of folders on mu maxell 4GB flash drive so I can add more university files to it. I can copy to my documents but when I try to delete it says write protected so cannot delete....

Copy all the files from the flash-drive to your 'C:' disk-drive.

Open "My Computer".
Click with the SECOND (usually the RIGHT) mouse-button on the icon for the flash-drive.
Choose the FORMAT option -- to completely delete everything on the flash-drive, and to reset it to its "factory" settings.
Click OK to do the formatting.
Copy all your files back onto the flash-drive.

I just wat to delete certain pictures from my flash drive and it's not working. What should I do? the flash drive is called ATTACHE.

Hi there

You flash disk is write protected and you cannot delete or add new file from the flash disc. Just click right mouse and choose the program each text. One of those is the tools to unwrite protect the flash disk or if there is pop up software in your computer that use to write protect the flash disc.

I hope it helps you

My memory stick is write protected...i cant add/delete files.

CHECK if it is not physically protected, a small button/switch might be on the stick!
THEN, try any other flash drive or memmory stick to locate the target problem (memorry stick, or usb port mulfunction or even security/driver issue).

PLUS, there are some programes that might protect flash drives, check if u have any, and uninstall them, and make sure u have deleted ther HIDDEN system files located on the stick!

gd luck.

Make sure your mp3 "HOLD" option is not on!
Its really as simple as that. The hold button 'protects' the files.
