I have a approx 20 year old GE Fridge with Freezer on top. I had a repairman fill coolant (8oz) and now the copper components off condensor are frosted up and unit does not get cold enough to freeze. I already had them replace the defrost timer and therm.
Any ideas?

Too much refrigerant. Let some out until the frost back starts going away. Do it slowly.

Hi do you notice any frost in the back of the freezer? If you do not this is a bad motherboard, I would recommend calling GE directly if under 5 years old they will fix at an extremely discounted price if it over 5 then the board costs about $175.00-200.00 to buy.

Hi GE top freezer fridge - 5 years old( no ice

Well for one thing that unit was manufactured 10 years ago. But it sounds like the defrost drain is clogged and the water is running down the inside of the unit. The evaporator (not condenser) is on the bottom of the freezer compartment. The bottom panel of the freezer comes out. They are a bit of a pain to do, but can be done.

GE Profile - fridge not cooling

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

Freezer not staying cold in the hot weather

Same problem as all of you. Mine happened at 17months old, not covered under warranty and cost just under $400 to have them replace the circuit board. Top of the line fridge and it is just junk! I am reading on blogs that there is a recall on these circuit boards but no one has yet to find where to call to get a free one. GE shouldn't be charging people to repair something that was bad right from the beginning whether it is past the warranty, or not. I just can't even underestand how you buy a top of the line product and you have a problem before it is even 2 years old.

I also bought a GE microwave at the same time, again, top of the line, $400 piece of junk, which I have also had nothing but problems with. It needed a new circuit board also within the first 6 months of owning it. That one was covered under warranty. Oh, and get this, the repairman had to order the circuit board rather than get me a new fridge because he says "this microwave is obselete now", are you kidding? it's 6 months old.

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GE PRODUCT AGAIN!

GE side by side Refrigerator approx. 8 years old. Fridge side barely cold.

With your fridge, does the light go out when you shut the refrigerator door?
That could be your issue, that light running inside will create Alot of heat.
Also check to see if there is air circulating from the freezer to the fridge side through the damper. The damper is on the Fridge side left wall up towards the top. That is where the cold air gets to the fridge side. If that damper doesn't open that will also cause your problem, Let me know how you make out.
