Unplug the machine. Tilt slightly backwards to prevent everything just falling out. Insert the Hook so that the half moon on the machine marries into the space on the hook and it beds firmly. Install the collar with the metal protrusions to the rear (allows space for the needle) and also ensure the small lug on the collar locates into the corresponding slot on the main fitting. Close the clips on each side to hold it all together.... voila

The needle fell in the slot, my husband turned the machine upside down and the needle didn't fall out but a piece of the bobbin area fell out and I don't know how to put it back. Any suggestions.

Without knowing the make & model machine, we are basically unable to assist. Probably, the best thing you can do is download a copy of the user instructions:

Make Model manual

There should be an access cover to the bobbin area. Most likely, the needle is either stuck inside the bobbin area or has dropped through to the bottom of the machine. As for installing the bobbin & bobbin case, the manual should have instructions for your to follow.

Need help reassembling bobbin area.

You didn't state what model you have, and that makes it tougher to help you.

I'm going to take a guess here that the part that fell out is a silver U shaped part located on the right near the bottom of the bobbin basket (holds the case). If that's the case, it's called a "cushion spring" and can just be reinserted by hand. It is part of the assembly that prevents the case from moving while the thread is unspooling from the bobbin during operation.

I unscrewed the part over the light bulb, than the smaller part that holds the thread tension bit and a small coil fell off, I don't know where it goes back, can I find anywhere a diagram of the machi

I cannot help and doubt a diagram could be found with that much detail but you could try the manufacturer. I suspect that the coil had been around the screw you removed or in the screw hole.

The bobbin case on my 2273 (the whole thing) fell out and I need a diagram on how to put it back.

If this is the Singer 2273, then did the hook cover and hook come out? See the pictures on page 2 of the oiling diagram here: http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/1235_oiling-2263.pdf .

If you need to replace these two parts, turn the handwheel until the hook race is in the left position. Then put in the hook (thickest part down) and then the hook cover (the side with the notch towards the machine and facing up). Rotate the hook retaining arms back towards the center of the hook cover to lock it in place. Now you should be able to put the bobbin case back in. Since this is a part that needs to be oiled regularly, wipe it out with a soft cloth and put 1-2 drops of sewing machine oil at point 6 (just to the right of center) in the shuttle before you replace the hook.

If additional parts have come out or the retaining arms are damaged, try finding the parts diagram for your model at the Singer site: http://www.singerco.com/support/replacement-parts-chart . THen see if a Singer dealer has replacements available.

I hope this helps.

Can't balance top/bottom thread tension-model 158.Bottom thread is a straight line. Have increased top tension to the stop. No effect.Have reduced bobbin tension until bobbin and case fall freely when held...

I disassembled the top thread tension controller consisting of 12-13 pieces, including 2 springs. Since they all fell out on the table I spent about 2 hours learning the proper stacking order on the central shaft.
With a combination of reasoning based on each unique piece shape and trial and error I put it back together, adjusted top and bottom tensions according to the instruction booklet for the machine, tested some stitching, made final adjustments and all worked well.
I don't know what was changed in the process but it worked.
