letting the recorder rest for an hour -- or even 2 days -- didn't work. please advise. I've tried multiple usb cables, so this isn't the problem. everything I try (in terms of getting my canon vixia hf11 to connect) gives me "operation canceled" error

  • moore_ink Sep 14, 2009

sorry, this didn't work either. the burner is new out of the box and I've tried lots of discs and multiple usb cables. it just won't connect or recognize the HF11 camera?!?!

If the error shows when you try to play the dvd into standard player ...this is from the difference of the format in which the dvd is burned...the camera probably use some kinda format ..like high definition ..that will not be recognized in most standard dvd-es ....but if the error occurs when you are trying to burn files directly from the camera int the dvd burner..then the problem is from buffering ...probably the files are corrupted...the amount of data u tried to burn was bigger than the disc...or something like this ...the optimal solution is to download the files first into your pc ...and then see whats wrong with them and either try to burn 'em classic way ...or via this burner using a data cable to connect it to computer ...anyway ..usually the error is specified...but on burners are either corrupt files that can not be recognized...either the streaming is poor and gets buffering error ...or you didnt choose the right operation for the job ...( by the way power issues may also make a dvd useless if interfere during the burning process )

Did you try another disk, it is very likely either the information you tried to write is corrupted or the disk was no good, have you downloaded the latest firmware for this burner? if not do this, there may be a fix if it is the burner, go to the Canon web site for the burner and click support, enter the model and see what updates if any are avil.

OPERATION CANCELED
- The USB cable was disconnected and the operation was canceled. Check the USB connection.

remove the CD / disconnect the USB cable / turn burner off for at least an hour to let it reset. after so reconnect the USB and turn the burner on, you are good to go.

I am thinking of buying a Connon VIXIA- HF-MA300. Will the DW-100 burn directly from the camera ?

Connect the camera to your PC.
Connect the Canon burner to your PC.
Use free software (see: http://www.MajorGeeks.com and search for "AShampoo Burning 6")
to read the files from your camera, and burn them to a blank CD/DVD disk.

Cannon DVD Burner DW100

I had this problem also when trying to connect to my HF200. I found a solution. The DVD recorder does not like MXP recordings, in fact it hates them. You will have to make sure no MXP recordings are present on your SD card/Hard drive. Then any recordings you make with the intension of recording to DVD need to be made in FXP mode or below. But remember if you have a selection of recordings on your SD/HD and just one is in MXP mode, you will get the error 'Operation cancelled'. Just as a sidenote, I phoned canon support about this problem, they were useless, promised me a callback that I never got!

Canon DVD burner DW-100 and HG10 burn issue

You can not have any MXP Files in your play list or in memory. The DW-100 Can not burn these files. Once you delete/remove the MXP Scenes from the the Camera the Burner will work fine.

Our Canon video camera will record in both HD and SD. We've recorded all of our video in SD so far and I burned some of it onto the Canon DW 100 burner and I can't get it to play on my DVD player. please...

You should burn your videos to a video format that should be compatible with your DVD player to get play. Some video formats will not be able to play to a certain DVD if the DVD player does not support it. You should burn your videos to VCD format to avoid problem because almost DVD nowadays have backward compatibility for all VCD movies. Hope this could help you..Please don't forget to rate me..:-) Thanks..

Will the DW-100 DVD burner work with the HG-20 camcorder

Yes.

I recently purchased the DW-100 for my HG-20. Works like a charm.

Some quick gotchas though...
People complain that Canon was not 100% clear about it's use. You can only burn standard definition (i.e. "non" hi def) DVDs if that's how the camera recorded it... I never looked to see if my HG-20 is capable of the old stuff, but basically the camera is sending data to the burner and there's no real conversion going on. Some Canon models record in Standard Def others do not.

Personally, I use the burner to backup videos onto standard DVD-R (or DVD-R DL) discs. The discs are burned in a Blu-ray compatible format. (but you get 4.7 or 8GB onto a disc vs the 30GB you'd get on a Blu-ray disc - but don't complain b/c the Blu-ray discs cost a fortune.)

If you don't own a Blu-Ray player you can connect the USB b/w the "camera & burner", and then the HDMI b/w the "camera & TV" and send the video from the burner, thru the camera, and watch on a Hi Def TV. (Complex but it does work and the picture quality is great).

Hop this helps.

I recorded my movies on the dw 100 but now i can't grt them to play on my dvd player

The DW-100 records discs based on the format they were originally recorded.

If your camera is recording HiDef videos than the discs this unit creates will be viewable on a Blu-ray disc player.

If your camera is recording in Standard Definition (ie. NOT HD) then I believe that the discs will work in regular or upconverting DVD players.

My Canon camcorder does not record in Standard Def so can't quite vouch for that last comment though.
