Sounds like you might have spamware or virus that's causing your machine to run high.
Also however it could also be your power supply not producing the current voltage to your computer.
I've had this problem simular to mine however i left it off for a week and when i turned it on, it went away... then after leaving the computer on for awhile then i can hear it coming, the sound getting louder and louder... I just re-installed windows and it corrected the problem.. sometimes this could be a hardware problem or software problem

Dell inspiron 530 desktop won't boot, fan is running, no signal on monitor

It sounds like either your monitor or video card inside the computer is bad.

If the monitor is showing the "No Input Signal" message then the video card inside the computer is bad. The monitor is ok otherwise it would not be able to display the No Input Signal message.

When you plug in the power cord is there any lights whatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of the power cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the computer is trying to boot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with the laptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issue when you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problem is with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and take note of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, then Press and Hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in and hit the power button to see if it boots.

Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.

Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of the memory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x on it with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the next memory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set it aside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If it boots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and put it into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

Blank screen

Did it boot all the way? Do you hear the fan running, disk drive spinning? If it sounds like it booted but the display is black, try this:

What causes red led on starting?

Remove Power Cord then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then put the cord back in and try to start it.

When you press the Power Button are you hearing the fans run, the disk drive running, the cd drive click and the light on it comes on for a second or two?

Anything shows up on the LCD Screen?

If you press the power button and absolutely nothing is happening then you most likely have a bad power supply.

If you press the power button and you start hearing beep sounds or blinking lights in a continuous pattern (ex. 1 long followed by 2 short) then you have a motherboard issue. Those beep sounds and blinking lights tells the technician what is going on with the computer.

Mycomputer is locked and will not open. Monitor showes: Please enter Setup to recover BIOS setting. PressF1 to run setup. Press F2 to load default values and continue. Nothing works...it is locked up....

If both F1 and F2 are not working and your computer is locked up, there is nothing else you can do other than restarting your computer. There may be deeper issues with it if it managed to show that screen in the first place. To restart your computer, hold the power button down, and when it turns back on plug it back in. If that does not work, you may have to resort to unplugging it.

My monitor won't turn on. The computer recognizes it, and the standby light on the monitor blinks, but nothing happens when I push the power button.

When you press power and the Gateway logo does not show, you have a power supply problem. The cause is bad capacitors that sometimes bulge at the top indicating they are open, repairs can run high so careful consideration should be given when moving ahead, also! it is a good idea to check the inverter board for bad caps. Computer Power comes on, shows compaq first screen, then everything stops. press esc, F10 or F12 and nothing happens. just continues to show the compaq screen. Any suggestions?

Try unplugging everything you can from the computer. Only leave keyboard, monitor, and power cables connected. Then try to turn on again. If computer boots now, then start adding peripherals back one at a time, rebooting each time. when you get the hang, there is your suspect peripheral.

Also, is the monitor itself having issues, or is it the computer? Look at the power light on the monitor, is it staying green, or is turning back to same color when it is in standby state?

Samsung syncmaster 551v crt monitor

hi Dale,
I think the press to on button in your monitor has struck and its locked the switch permenently. That is why You can not telease it and get a click sound as the menu is always enabled.
Try releasing the button with a pin or a sharp tool without any damage.
