1. go to start
2. control Panel
3. Sounds
4. check if you can adjust the settings for the volume there, if not and everything is grey out
5. This means the Driver is not installed

* also you can try testing the speakers with another computer if it's working at another computer that means there's nothing wrong with the actual speakers, however it may be your connection or the software driver for that particular computer insn't installed.

* try going to Acer website and located the sound driver for that Acer 6706 and download it and install it.

First check you dont have a red line through your speaker on your toolbar. If so click it and "UN-mute it.

Check that the speakers are plugged into the GREEN port on the back of the computer and that the speakers are powered up with the volume at about 1/2 way.

Open volume control.

When the box with all the sliders opens up click on OPTIONS (top left)
Click PROERTIES

Make sure that Volume controls, Wave, SW Synth, CD PLayer, Line IN, and MIC all show on there and that the volume sliders are about half way up.

Make sure noe of the sliders have ticks at the bottom, if so UNTICK them.

If any of those are missing click options then properties from the top left and put a tick besides any that were missing (nothing else unles you know you want that item)

Now close the slider box.

Put a normal music cd in your cd/dvd player on the computer and set it to play with windows media player.

You should now have sound out of the speakers.

If not double check that you have no problems with your hardware from the device manager.

Question about the integrated audio on an Acer desktop...

Actually, it's more the speakers, you can have the greatest sound card in the world, but plugging in a 10 dollar set of pc speakers is not going to sound good. That's why a good motherboard has Optical SPDIF Out Port, so you can put the sound to a receiver.

It's HD 5 channel, but likely your sound blaster is better.

2 SET OF SPEAKERS WON'T WORK FOR ACER E380

Do these speakers came with the system? If yes then check your manual from the Acer's website ( www.acer.com)
Also what color ports do you have in the back of the Desktop?
I believe you have a green, a Blue and a pink port, the Green is for outgoing sound, the Blue is for incoming sound, like a tape player recorder or a External CD player to get sound to your PC, and the PIN is the Microphone.

Computer speakers no sound

I'm assuming Windows XP on a PC Desktop but the concepts are the same no matter what operating system.

1. Are your speakers plugged in to a power source?
2. Are they turned on?
3. Is the volume turned up on the speakers?
4. Are your speakers plugged into the (usually green) audio port on your computer? 5. Go into control panel, sounds and audio devices and check to make sure that sound is not on "mute".
5. On the Audio tab, check to make sure it shows a default sound device for each item. If not, either your sound card is malfunctioning or you need to download and install a current driver from the Acer website.

Might be trivial, but try the volume controls, that little speaker icon on the Windows task bar.
