    Refrigerator makes a low howling noise which is coming from behind the ice maker and out of the vent that pumps in cold air apparently from the coil.

    Loud buzzing noise coming from behind ice maker. We've had the motor replaced already...they are going to replace it again. Very loud ...Refrig is only a few months old..Noise is so loud you can hear it from any room in the house.

    We have a GE GSS23KGS Side by side. There is a constant vibration noise or buzzing sound, with no variation, coming from it. It's loudest inside the freezer behind the icemaker.

    Same howling/buzzing noise coming from behind the ice maker and out of the vent that pumps in cold air; my refrigerator is about 18 months old, no extended warranty, did anybody try replacement of the evaporator fan motor as suggested here? And if you did, it solved the problem?

Freezer temp is below zero it is minus 2.00 will not adjust.

Negative 2 degrees is a good temperature for freezers, but if you want it warmer, raise the thermostat up (warmer temp) In the refrigerator section, & open damper (or set the adjuster knob in the back of the freezer to warmer). If the motor is making a loud noise, it may be hitting ice built up from the evaporator...thaw out.

I have a GE Profile Side by Side TPX21PR/Tpx21BR. The freezer is not freezing ice cream or even bread, but the meat seems fine. There has been a loud noise emanating from the unit for over a year.

Kindly provide few more details so that i could provide more appropriate solution to your problem :-

1. How old is the unit?
2. Kindly hear the noise - Is it from the freezer section or upper back or lower back of the refrigerator?
3. Do you hear the compressor running?
4. Any problem with temperature in lower section or is it limited to freezer section?

Let me know,so that we could proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

My 10yr old model#690 freezer is having trouble maintaining temp and when the compressor shuts off it makes a loud clunk noise. I have check to see that fan is running and have turned unit off for about...

The noise that you are hearing is in the compressor. The motor has rubber mounts that hold the motor inside the compressor. One of these mounts are broke and what you are hearing is the motor hitting against the inside of the compressor. Have you tried cleaning the coils? let me know.

When the ice maker start to rotate there is very loud noise

Dripping sound.
During the defrost, water draining from the freezer section will drip into the pan by your compressor in the back and bottom of your refrigerator.
* Air rushing or blowing.
There is a fan in the freezer section and in some models in the back and bottom of your refrigerator to circulate air. This is a normal sound.
* Louder when starting or coming on.
Compressor operates at a higher pressure when first starting and noise should disappear as refrigerator continues to run and balance pressures.
* Popping, crackling, or sizzling about once a day.
If your model is self-defrosting, the defrost system utilizes a heater to remove the ice and frost from the freezer coil. During this period you will hear some expansion noises as heat is applied to the coil and you may experience some sizzling sounds as the melting water drips on the heater.
* Running water.
If you have an ice maker equipped model, the ice maker will call for water as the old batch of cubes is ejected and the ice maker starts to make more cubes. This will last for about 10 seconds and is normal.
* Vibrating or rattling noises

Loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.
