Maytag A482 washer from 1985. Leaking water from inside topleft side of cabinet. Took front panel off and see water dripping off metal rim left side across from top of drum.......3/4 way back on side panel Does not appear to be drum as dripping is to left of drum just below smaller black hose but the hose itself seems dry.

Probably has a pin hole leak where it has been rubbing the tub. Does the tub have a seal at the top of it where it meets the top. Could be the seal is going bad.

My maytag washer is shaking violently on the rinse cycle

I am currently having the same issue with my Maytag A482. Not sure if you have found a fix yet, or if you have replaced your washer. My washer runs fine until it nears the end of the cycle, when it begins to spin and shake violently, enough to loosen the leveling feet and rock back and forth. I pulled the front panel of the machine off (two screws near the base in the front, and two clips at the top) and ran a load through it. It ran fine until the end, when the machine started shaking violently. I did notice a few small pieces of roundish felt looking material sitting on the bottom, which after some research looks like it may be the damper pad. I found these online:
Damper pad 203956
Replacement Damper 203725 for MAYTAG Laundry Appliances A482

I am hoping this will resolve the issue, I will order them this afternoon and install them once they arrive. I really hate to replace such a good washer with a new high efficiency unit, which all seem to have terrible reviews after a few months/year of use.

I have a Magtag Washer, Model MAV6257, 7000, 8000 series. It is leaking water..

Hello Denise,

Good morning, your Maytag washer is very likely leaking from the drain pump,it is teh usual place those washers leak from. To access the pump.place a putty knife in the seam, between the front panel and the bottom of the top, about a inch in on either side and depress a clip, the top will then pop up and can be raised...tehn you will see in the back side of the front panel 2 screws that hold the front panel to the cabinet, remove those screws and the front panel will come off...when the front panel is off the drain pump will be in the right side of the base frame ..inspect it for leakage and replace if necessary.

If it turns out that something besides the pump is leaking, please be sure to get back to me and i'll determine what else it could be

The part number for the drain pump is 35-6780 it could be purchased at your local appliance partrs store or online at

I have a Matag model A482 that is leaking water when filling for wash or rinse and I want to know how to remove the top (no manual...); it seems that there is a release mechanism in the front of the...

you will have to first remove the front of the machine two screws at the bottom of the front pannel tip away from the machine to release the front tabs. you will then find screws run up into the top remove these and the top will tilt back locate the filler tube from the valve and follow to the inlet to the washer about half way there should be a vacum cylender inside a rubber tube that has probably become loaded with hard water deposits or just stiff from age replace the tube and leaking should stop

We have a Maytag top-loader model A482 which is probably 25 years old. I found water on the floor under the machine when the last load finished washing. What's the first place to look for the leak? I'm...

The most common thing that will cause a leak is the tub seal. If the tub seal is leaking water will be comming from the center of the tub where the transmission meets the tub. This page will show how to replace the seal. http://appliance-repair-it.com/Maytag-tub-seal.html

There is also an air-gap that will often leak. If this is the case the water will be comming from the left hand side at the top. The air-gap is in line with the water inlet. This page will tell more http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/Maytag-washer-leaking.html

If they are not the problem you will have to look for a leaking hose or something to that nature.

How do I replace the water intake valve on my whirlpool top loader.

Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Kenmore, Roper, Estate, after 1985
• The valve will be mounted to the back of the washer with two screws. However, you must remove the valve from inside the washing machine, and this requires you remove the entire washer cabinet, which consists of the top, front and sides.
• Remove the two screws in the lower corners of the control panel.
• Lift the control panel up high enough so it stays up and back.
• Disconnect the wire harness connector.
• Using a flathead screwdriver, snap out the two gold-colored spring clips at the top of the cabinet on the left and right sides.
• The cabinet will now lift up at the back. Pull the cabinet up 10-12 inches and then slide it forward 2 inches.
• Remove the cabinet completely and set it aside.
• The valve will be on the right side of the washer at the back. It’s the device to which the water fill hoses are attached.
• Label the wires from the valve and remove them.
• Remove the water feed tube(s) from the valve.
• Remove the screws holding the valve to the back panel.
• Install the new valve in the reverse order.
• Reinstall the cabinet. (Note: As you follow this procedure, do not force the cabinet in any way. When done properly, the cabinet will go back together very smoothly.) First, tilt the cabinet toward you 10-12 inches while you “walk” the cabinet back onto the lower frame of the washer. (This will be easier if you have the washer lid open so you can see inside the cabinet at the same time.) The front edge of the cabinet slides underneath the base frame, and the sides of the cabinet rest on top of the base frame.
• When the cabinet is resting on the frame squarely, check to be sure the back of the washer is aligned with the cabinet. There are two plastic strips attached to the back of the washer that must line up with the sides of the cabinet as you set the cabinet down.
• Reinstall the two spring clips at the top.
• Reattach the wire harness connector.
• Rotate the control panel back down and reinstall the two screws.
• Flush out the water fill hoses.
• Reattach the water lines.
• Turn on the water.
• Check for and correct any leaks.
• Restore power and test.
Hope this helped you and best wishes.

Leaking inside washer, how and which panel do I take off

You will need yo remove front panel. Should be 2 screws near bottom on front. Take these out. Use putty knife or thin screwdriver to pop clips to pop the top up. the 2 clips are in the slot between the top and the front panel. Once top is up you will push down on the front panel. There are 2 tabs and slots on each side that connect the front panel to main cabinet. As you push the front panel down you should be able to pull the panel toward you and out. The tabs and slots are easy to bend and sometimes hard to get back in. Hope this helps!

We have a 17 year old Maytag Washer, Model LA 9700, that is leaking. It is not an outside hose. How do I get inside the machine to look at the internal hose? I can't see anything through the back side...

The front panel should come off your washer allowing you access to the interior cabinet. Along the seam where the top panel meets the front of the washer, there should be a couple of retaining clips. If you take a putty knife and push in, while lifting up on the top panel, the clips should release. Inspect the dispenser hoses, water inlet lines, drain pump, drain hoses, the hose connections to the wash tub and along the wash tub bottom where the tub seal is. If you go to searspartsdirect.com and type in your model number, there are some excellent exploded view drawings showing how your washer is assembled. I hope this helps you.

Maytag Washer leaking from front

If I remember correctly, you need to remove the drum to get at the bolt that you are talking about. There is a rubber washer that provides the seal. The locking collar on the hub is Left hand thread. If you work at it you can get it loose.
