All vehicles normally have spot at the dome lights. to put cb/ham/commercial antennas. but some ford trucks have a center rib on the roof which sometimes would have to off-center an antenna. on newer trucks. I would use the ham NMO mount that has the 3/8" hole (not3/4") and use a wilson 1000-5000. or tram base load antenna.. depending on power wattage needed. we normally carry the 3/8" mounts they have coax and pl259 connector on them. look us up. lowest prices guaranteed.

How do you remove the chrome cover for the mirror on a Volvo 780. I need to fix my cb coax

what I would do is this.I would run my own coax with my own connectors and mounts. That coax in the mirror could be broke in several places and you will never find it because when you do it will be broke in another area of the wire.

How to Build: Antenna Tuners

Get you a metal box about 4 inches X 4 inches. Use 2 female Cb antenna inputs from old Cb radios or Radio Shack. Get a old Am radio tuner out of a AM radio(530-1700 khz.) Buy or scrap up some copper wire; big gauge I used. Wound 8-10 turns about " 1 inch round close tight wound. Solder to AM tuner- C1 it shall say on top of Am tuner. Solder Center of Am tuner to Ground(Metal box). For those who know electronics the Tuner is 0-365pf Am band 530-1700khz types. OK, back to assembly. drill a hole for the Two Female Cb Inputs on both sides of metal box. Attach copper wire inside to center taps of Inputs on both sides. Drill a hole for Am tuner and Screw on its lock nut and place a knob on it. Solder all grounds of Female Antenna inputs and Tuner Ground and all Grounds to metal box. Use a washer and Bolt to lock down Grounds to Box. This is how it operates after you use a Jumper to hook to TX of Cb radio. Antenna to other side. Its just a simple L/C network. The Tx travels through copper wire(coil) inside box and gets shunted to ground by the right level of PF Capacitance. The operator tunes it in to get a close to 1.1 to 1.5 SWR ratio. Its simple, but helps with bad Antennas.

Can you put a lexus250 sat nav into a 220d without

You'll have an antenna location problem. Running the wire requires removing the headliner before you drill holes in the roof. Then routing the wire once inside requires the removal of door sill covers and other plastic interior parts to install the antenna wire.

What antenna

If you cannot use a magnet mount antenna on the roof then a fiberglass antenna (top loaded) about 4 ft. tall mounted behind the cab on the bed rail. You can usually run the coax thru a rain drain hole in one corner of the bed. The antenna should be tall enough to where the top third of the antenna is above the roof. The taller the the better the SWR will tune.

Whats the best antenna and location on an f250 ford p/u ext cab superduty

Something like either a Wilson 1000 or 5000 magnetic mount on the roof--coil and whip unit detach as needed.

I have a Midland 1001Z 40-Channels Base CB Radio and a Magnetic-mount CB antenna. 29" stainless steel whip and 6" spring. About 46" high overall. All bought from / in Alberta...

Try Grounding it better. Its supposed to equal 8.5 ft.(102 inches) but the coil may make that in all.You can clip like 1/8 inch off at time until it goes 2.1 Swr. Thats a good standard. 1.5 SWR is desired. If it don't have a coil with it that may be the problem. You could turn it into a 8.5 ft. antenna by buying a 102" inch whip to screw into the base of your antenna, it depends if it holds or not. You could build you a matcher like this with a solder gun+solder and 2 resistors. Get you a box with 2 female cb antenna inputs. Drill a hole for both Cb antenna inputs into box. Place them into holes screw nuts down snug. Run a copper wire inside to both grounds or a plate somewhat. Run a thick gauge copper wire from center cb ANT INPUT(2) to other input of ANT INPUT(1). Solder 2 100 ohms in parallel from input to Ground. If you could take apart your radio(eliminating the box idea). Just Solder 2 (100 ohm) resistors to your Antenna output then put it back together. 50 OHM MATCH HERE Is the main idea. I've used 75 OHM Tv coax and reduced SWR.

I have Cobra 29 LTD Classic and need to know how to take the old co-ax out to put a new one in????

you just unscrew the coax from the back of the radio. there is no coax in the radio. Coax is the wire that runs from the radio to the antenna.

How do i install a cb radio on a pick up truck

You will need a CB radio antenna, The CB radio and mounting hardware as well as the power wire.

Choose a place to mount the radio. Mount it. Run the power wires from the radio to the fuse box. Put red wire in with the fuse that is hooked to switched 12 volt. Ground the black wire to any metal of the vehicle.

Next find a place to mount the antenna. If you use a mag mount, the roof of the cab is a best bet. Run the wire into the vehicle, it can go through the door, just make sure its not going to get pinched.

Hook the coax from the antenna to the radio

Now you have to tune the antenna. this is important because if you don't you you will blow the transmit final transistor out in the radio.

This link will take you to an article that will explain how to tune your antenna.

How do you remove the roof rails on a 92 Camry SW? I was able to get the rack off but not the rails running the length of the roof. They appear to have rivets or some type of square drive screw heads on...

the rails are riveted or screwed to the roof screws are easy obviously, rivets need to be gently drilled out by a drill size that just is a tiny bit larger than the hole in the middle of the rivet and drill till the top of the rivet pops off(not much drilling required, then you need to block off all the holes otherwise the roof will rust through, you may need to clean and seal it carefully

Don't know how to run coax in a mega cab truck is there anywhere to go through the cab without drilling holes?

Get under your truck and look in between your cab and the pickup bed. Look up towards the back of the cab and you should find some rubber gromets. On the Ford Superduty and Chevy HD series, they have them on the drivers side back of the cab. Once you locate it...your gonna have to take the seat out, and the rear interior panel and locate exactly where the gromet will have you run the coax. Once you do, pop the gromet out and cut an X in it with a razor knife and pull the coax through it, and then to the antenna. I pulled it snug, but not tight, then I put just a little RTV silicon on the outter side of the gromet to assure no water can get into the cab. I ran the coax around the outter edge of the truck under the carpet and along the door sill (had to take that out too). Then up under the dash, and to the radio....entire installation literally took about an hour. Every full size pickup truck has some access from in cab exiting to the rear towards the bed for many different utility purposes such as: sander/salt spreader wires, generator/compressor, aux lighting, wrecker applications, strobe light bars, and etc... So if you really are having a hard time locating that rubber gromet, just simply call your local truck accessory store, and I'm sure they can tell you where it is on your particular truck...hope that helped!! Let me know
