Well, though it be simple, you might clean the lint filter everytime you use it. Over time a dryer even with lint filter cleaned will still collect small amounts of lint inside it. You shouldn't worry much but you could call the maytag man to come and take apart the dryer and clean the inside. <;O)

I seems like you have a plugged up filter and/or an obstruccion in the exhaust hose/pipe.

Remove and clean lint filter, also remove exhaust hose/pipe from back of dryer and remove any lint accumulated. Check also the exhaust hole in the dryer.

Don't forget to rate this post. Good Luck!!

First begin by pulling away from wall. Unplug and begin by checking for 240 coming from outlet. We will need a multimeter to check ohms and test points along the way. Most times people do not answer so I will leave some information and will pick up on your case when you respond. Fact is I had a service call on one like yours. The lint filter had a hole that allowed lint to collect in the exhaust to the point that moisture collected in the lent blocking ventilation. I know you said you checked yours, but we need to find where the power stops, door switch, thermal overload, etc. Those dryers are a trick to open, I will be around later if you would like my assistance, Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have a maytag neptune dryer and there is always build up under the lint screen area. I am wondering if there is supposed to be a seal aroound the lint screen itself as mine has never had one??

I have one and there is no seal. I just stick the vacuum cleaner in there every so often or use the fluff from inside the lint screen to give it a wipe out, it likes to stick to itself.

Can't find the lint cleaner

In order to locate the lint filter for your dryer you must first remove the door. to do this first open the door and remove the screw that hold the hinges to the front of the dryer. once the door is off. there are 2 screws at the bottom of the front access panel. once the screws are out the panel will come off of its brackets by pulling the bottom out first. once this panel has been removed you will be able to see the inside of the dryer and the lint screen is directly behind this panel on the LEFT hand side and it will just pull straight out. if you need a new one the part number is 33001808.hope this helps

MayTag Neptune MDG9700AW Gas Dryer

Check the lint tubing and also for lint underneath the dryer. There is a blockage somewhere for this to happen. This is a built in safety feature for gas dryers that others don't have.
