Re: open the body

On the forum suggested by juandelacruz I found the solution: between many suggestion the one that works was thw WOTS (whack on the side) approach, a little bit risky but efficient.

I don't know how to open the battery door for the

Slide the latch in the center of the battery cover toward the front of the lens, then flip open the cover. It's hinged toward the center of the body, so it flips open in that direction.

There's an illustration in the "Preparations" section of the Basic manual (page 5 in my copy). If you need manuals, you can download them from

You are heading into dangerous territory. You have an expensive camera. The mirror CANNOT BE TOUCHED! I cannot stress that enough. You do not have the expertise or the tools necessary for the repair. You must have an authorized Leica repair facility do this work.

I have a Panasonic PVGS19 Mini DV Camcorder. The problem is the flip screen. Will not work when fully open. There is a picture when it is opened at about 1/4 of the way. Also, when opened and flipped...

There is a small flat ribbon cable between the camera and the LCD display that probably has a small crack in it. Move the cable the right way and it works. The cable neds to be replaced. This is NOT a repair to be done by anyone without prior repair experience as there are too many cables and connectors that can be damaged easily.

The repair shouldn't be too much as the hinge with the cables (part number LSXY0764) is only $17.14. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

Dimage Z3 self-timer

It is in the Drive mode, the options are single shot, continuous, bracket, and self timer. It is not very clear in the manual but it is on the 1st menu page, page 46. Navigate using the arrow button. The default is single shot. When you set the camera to self timer, after taking the shot, it will return to the previous mode, ie. single shot or continuous. If you always use the self timer, you can reprogram the flash mode button to set the drive mode without going to the menu, page 65 of the manual. If you do not have a manual, you can download here :
