Since you posted this under the WMH32517AT category, I'll assume that's your model number. If not, feel free to e-mail me (below).

The function of the door switches is to prevent the oven from running when the door is open.

If the switches fail in a certain way, it can cause the fuse or breaker to blow. That's by design.

Some models have a line fuse and another fuse for the controller low voltage transformer.

There is a technical sheet hidden behind the grille or behind the controls. It's very helpful in locating components and testing, etc.

Your door switch mounts need to be inspected to be sure they're not loose, misaligned, or damaged. If so, they'll need to be realigned or replaced as needed.

The hook-like "latch heads" protruding from the door must be under spring tension and must move up and down freely in order to activate the door switches.

It sounds like your door switch is stuck, and you can order a universal type here.

Most door switch problems are caused by slamming the door or opening the door while it's cooking instead of hitting the "Stop" pad first.

At my Web site, I have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range grille and control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

The support page for model WMH32517AT is here. It has the owner's manual, installation instructions, exploded views, and parts lists.

You can order any needed Whirlpool parts from the Pros here, my favorite affiliated supplier.

You probably have a bad connection either on the control circuit board (which we repair), the line filter board, or one of the thermostats.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Whirlpool microwave does not switch on - no power

A problem with a door switch or door switch mount (like this one) will cause the fuse to blow when the door is opened or closed.

There may be a second fuse inside.

You also need to check the door switches and latches to be sure all the debris is out.

There is often a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

Light and door spring

I had a tension rod break in my door as well. There are two of them that cross forming an X and you can see them when you open the door and look in the crack. Fixing them is very easy once you get the outer panel w/ glass and the black molded plastic piece off. WARNING, when you open the door there are two screw on the inside top part of the door assembly. THEY ARE THE ONLY TWO SCREWS HOLDING THE ENTIRE FRONT PANEL/GLASS ASSEMBLY IN PLACE. I found this out the hard way. When the 2nd screw disengaged the whole assembly came crashing down shattering the glass and nearly cut off my toe. Be very careful when taking off the outside panel!!!

Next challenge...the black molded piece that also needs to come off. To remove this take off the piece that surrounds the exhaust tube to get at two screws that are directly underneath the molded plastic piece. After getting that off you have access to the two rod and can get them installed without to much trouble.

Again, be very careful when removing the front panel. My repair went from an 18 dollar tension rod to a $200 dollar front panel and nearly cost me a toe (yes, I was barefoot).

Turntable microwave oven (model JE1540WW 002) (serial ZR943877S)

Chances are that it is not actually microwaving, but that can be checked by placing a small cup of water inside.

Overall, though, it's not a good idea to run it if it's not working right.

This problem is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
