I have an old Briggs and Stratton engine 16hpv. I was cleaning the carburettor and blew out the jets with an airline and a very small spring came out from behind the fuel inlet diaphram. Although it still runs it it very 'lumpy'. Can you please tell me what spring it was as it was lost and where I can purchase a replacement also a diagram where the spring should be fitted and a service kit.
Many thanks

I am trying to find you a spring..i have a bunch of old stuff out back. give me a couple days. It holds the diaphram steady to prevent chattering of the rubber while fuel is flowing...:)also what year is your briggs and model?

Smoking and loosing power

Blue smoke means engine worn or too much oil in sump.
Black smoke is caused by too much fuel being sucked into carburettor.
This can be caused by a dirty air filter, choke being left on after engine is started or fault in choke system if automatic choke fitted.
