Question about Maytag Neptune MDG5500AW Gas Dryer
Cleaned the dryer and ducting. Everything starts fine, and there is a normal flame for a few minutes, then it the burner shuts off. The igniter glows and trys to start again, periodically, but it never lights. My guess is it is the coils (solenoids). Does that sound logical? Is there a way to test which one is bad, or is it best to replace both?
Service Manual for Dryer similar to yours will cover disassembly and troubleshooting:
It's likely one of the coils is opening a break in the coil as the coil heats up. This coil will shrink when cool and be able to run again. The number for the coil kit, which will replace ALL the coils, for your machine is 12001349
Service on gas appliances should be undertaken by professionals only due to the danger of gas leakage which can cause fires, explosion or death by asphyxiation.
