If your receiver is saying you only have analog, it must not be able to see the optical input. Check your optical cable, maybe it is damaged or not tight.

Zone 2 is mute with optical input

You can't use a digital input in zone 2. Only analog inputs can be used.

Hi. I write from spain. I have the blu-ray LG

Have you tried the another optical cable? They don't tolerate dirty connections or small-radius bends in their routing. THAT (and the expense of optical cables) is why I always choose coaxial connections when possible.

RX-V461 Yahama Receiver is hooked up to TV with optical THX cable but can't get sound. Tuner on receiver plays and all speakers work perfectly for radio listening.

double check input used on amp and make sure u use the auto format decoder fuction on your amp ok if it has none than turn it on optical digital ok that should work for you :)

I want the tv sound to go through my yamaha rx-v363 receiver

You can do a couple of things depending on your unspecified TV and/or cable box:

For vanilla TV stereo (at best) audio: if the TV has RCA audio out jacks, run them to DTV/CBL or TV input.

For cable box (potentially multichannel) audio, if your cable box has a digital coaxial or optical audio out, run it to one of the digital in's on the receiver.

Yamaha rx-v365 plugged in the hdmi from cable box

You have to configure your DTV input to use optical audio instead of analog dtv audio (red/white plugs). Input assignment should be described in the manual. Come back to me if you have still problems with it.

Problem hooking up my Yamaha RX-V461 to my PS3

When you connect the optical cable to the ps3 you must change the output to optical on the ps3. To do this, startup your ps3 then go to settings then audio output settings and change it to Digital Out (Optical).

No sound out of surround back speakers

It sounds like you don't have your surround sound source set up properly (your DVD player is not set up for PCM sound).

the best quality audio will be to set up either digital or optical audio between the DVD and the receiver.

Once you have connected the optical or digital audio cable between the DVD and receiver, you have to go into the DVD player audio setup and change it to PCM digital audio or you will not get surround sound. DVD players are not set up by default to output surround sound.
