Motor Number 279787 needs to be replaced.

The instant you press the button on the console, the motor should start. When it starts a mechanism in the motor operates a switch mounted on the motor (provided w/new motor). That makes a circuit which replaces the action of your finger holding the button by creating a bypass circuit. This bypass circuit takes the start switch completely out of the circuit and keeps the motor running.

Your motor is not making this bypass circuit.

I have Kenmore 90 plus series electric dryer that won't stay on after I let go of the start switch. I replaced the thermal fuse, it was blown. I also replaced the start switch, it only makes the dryer...

I think there is a Relay that is bad, the start switch is activating that relay, but that relay fails to stay on the way it should. Find that relay and check it and the wiring connections.

GE dryer starts but..... stops

What you describe is either a failed evenheat board or a failed motor relay.
Please post the complete model number from the machine and I can help you narrow it down. There should be a wiring diagram inside the console with voltage checks also.

Dryer only runs when I hold down Start button works fine only if I hold the start button down This is a gas dryer

souds like the door switch is broken or malfunctioning . unplug the dryers power cord , locate switch by removing top cover no need to remove switch just yet. locate two wires coming from switch . and check function by means of a continuity tester or multi tester. touch the red test lead to one wire termial and the black test lead to the other , now set your meter to resistance reading . with switch normaly open ie; (door open) youll have high resistance reading and with dooor closed or switch held in youll have no resistance. or an audible tone on your tester. if no tone or high resitance reading occurs with door closed or switch held in the switch is bad. hope this was helpful.

Model 110 dryer we have the start button in for it to run we let go it stops

One of two things is wrong. Either the start switch has gone bad or the start winding in the motor is failing to switch over to the run winding. You'll need to get a multimeter and before starting unplug the dryer. Once thats done, get behind it, remove the back cover to the control panal and disconnect the two wires that are connected to the start button. With your meter set for checking continuity, place a meter lead on start button pins where the wires were connected, one lead on each side. With leads in place have someone press the start button, if continuity shows when pressed and stops when its not, the button is good and the motor is bad. Personally, I think the motor winding has burnt, and the motor should be replace, but I also think that the start button should be changed as well because its in direct series with the motor, and could have taken damage that may not show up until further down the road, plus its an inexpensive part.

Kenmore Elite electric dryer model # 110.64994300\r\n I'm pretty sure I need to replace the push to start switch because it starts when I push it but stops when I take my finger off of it. So I held it...

I don't believe replacing the switch is going to fix the problem. provided the power cord is wired correctly you have a control board issue. Their is a small micro computer in the the console that will cause your exact concern start while holding the button the stops, and no heat.

Clothes Dryer won't stay on after switch is depressed.

some of them dryers have a switch other than the push button located behind the console. it also has an identical heat switch beside it. if that holding switch is bad it will not stay running. of the two identical switches the run switch is on the left. good kuck.

Dryer turns on when botton held down

Motor has a "Run" winding centrifugal switch that may need to be replaced. Start button energizes the starter winding but when the "run" switch fails the motor won't keep running. Switch is easily replaced without taking motor apart.

Dryer Only Works When The Start Button Is Held Down

Good news, I don't think it is the circuit board. Recheck to see if you put all the wires back on and securely. You may have the starter wires on backwards. The starter is a momentary contact switch and is used primarily to give power for just a split second to start the motor. Let me know how this turns out.

Dryer de600e

most likely this is a defective start button stuck inthe on mode. If you know how to check it with an OHM meter, there should be no continuity in the on switch when it is not being held down. do not bypass the buzzer as the on switch needs to be replaced
