Question about Acer NSK8458AN Keyboard

1 Answer

My "s" key (the little plastic snapon) fell off.

Where can I get a new one? Initially it became loose and would come off but I could snap it back and it would stay. Apparently one of the teeth on the corner has broken off. Where can I get a new one? Any ideas would be helpful. Tried to call warranty line of Acer and can't get thru.

Here is a website I found that indicates they have the Acer NSK8458AN keyboard in stock.

Mechanism that snaps the presser foot on and off fell apart, need a diagram to show how to put the little black plastic part back on and where the black spring that fell out goes

Assuming you have all the parts, the spring goes inside the little hole in the back of the mechanism.
You then position the lever behind it, line it up with the bar that holds the lever, and put the lever pin back in.
This is very tedious, and can be frustrating. You might consider paying for a new one.

Older model (unknown) Whirlpool Dishwasher. Door latch failure. Dishes trapped inside.

You may have to break the little handle off to open it and order a new door latch mechanism. Just be careful. This is a lip latch so it wont be hard if you can get to where the latch connects. Use the internet and model to order new one.

After 2 months of use my "V" key just fell off. No prying, no dropping and this laptop is immaculately clean. Just a broken "V" key. It will not snap back into place. How do I get this fixed?

usually if you push the key back then put a little pressure in it. it will snap back to the keyboard. if nothing happens. i advised you to contact your manufacturer and have your laptop repaired if it is still under warranty

A key came off the keyboard

Hi eugpol,

Typically, the keys either have a small cross bow type of connection, or they some just snap back on. Look at the back of the key, if it has a round cylinder type configuration, then you can place the key back in it's position and with your fingers, just ad a little pressure until it locks in place.

Now if it has a cross bow configuration, when you look under the key, you'll find two plastic pieces that interlock with each other. What you do is hold the key face up, and sort of tap the sides to get the two plastic pieces to drop. On one of the plastic pieces you'll find two snap in ends. And on the other piece you'll find it's more of a circle that has a snap in bar across the top of the circle. The object here, is to take the one piece that has the two snap in ends and look on the keyboard, you'll find two teany tiny circle holes that those little ends go into. Plug those in first, then on the other side you need to snap the bar end up and back to snap it into place, and your done. It may take a couple of tries, but you'll get it.

Good Luck, and don't forget to leave a rating.

A key from my keyboard just fell off,how do fix it back?

Most keyboards the keys tops just snap into place. However, if the plastic is broken you will probably have to replace the keyboard. Good thing is they are relatively inexpensive.

My ibm thinkpad key ""Q" came loose

Situation 1. The key cap and key retainer fell off the keyboard and you cannot figure out how to assemble them back. keyboard-key-repair-1.jpg Carefully remove the cap from any other working key so the key retainer stays connected to the keyboard.
keyboard-key-repair-2.jpg Take a closer look at the key retainer, it’s connected to the keyboard at four different points.keyboard-key-repair-3.jpg Assemble the disconnected retainer the same way as one on the keyboard and put it back in place.keyboard-key-repair-4.jpg Put the key cap on the retainer and snap the cap back in place.keyboard-key-repair-5.jpg

Broken switch

That is correct, the flat plastic rod that pulls when you depress the on/off button is attached to a switch lever under the bottom of the handle. The rod in mine broke off right where it connects to that switch lever. You can either try and find the new or used part, Braun may have new, I have not tried their 800 number, can't hurt? I fix everything from scratch though and rebuild when I can especially if parts are scarce or obsolete. So I used some marine putty to affix the rod end back to the lever. Marine putty is a stick with two putties you roll together for a rock hard compound, awesome stuff. You can get at Wally World or hardware, auto parts, boat supply stores. I also drilled very small holes in the broken rod on each side and the lever on each side and threaded some thin stainless steel wire through, just looped it around without twisting it togethor before putting the putty over it for a permanent, wire reinforced, fix.The handle is not screwed on exception of one little torx screw at very bottom of handle on base. The handle just snaps together. The base or bottom and 3 screws do not need to be removed either for this rod and lever fix. Remove the top 'cover' piece of the handle first, then remove the two brass pins under it at top next to the on/off button second. So, the handle 'snaps' off with a lock blade knife or equivalent, get under the handle pieces with knife edge and twist the blade, it will pop off as you go, be prepared to break a few little hook pieces off underneath, they break but it seems to snap back on ok anyway. Crazy glue alone won't hold these plastic pieces together btw, try another way, wire and putty, maybe a plastic welding kit etc.. Mine works great again, once I got the lever reattached to the rod.
