Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

Craftsman 41A3625 garage door opener safety "eye". Buying a new home and the inspector informed us that there is no safety eye system on our garage door opener. It appears to be a 1995 model (at the bottom of the sticker on the drive it says assembled in Mexico 132C1995), so that's what I am basing it on. There are no brackets for the sensors on the tracks, and the only hanging wire at the drive unit appears to be the remote sensor. I am looking to add the safety sensors, if they are available, and curious where they would connect to, and which style would my particular unit take. (I see amber/green or infrared, or green/green sets as options at different sites) I am not sure if the connectors would be visible from the back without removing any cover, or not, but, there are "Red", "White", "Blk" and "Yel" spots for wires (the red and white spots have wires currently screwed to them, the other 2 are open). The other numbers on the sticker are "Doc Cert" K711 and "FCC ID" HBWID3605 . Thanks for any help you can give me.

Your opener was manufactured before there were safety sensors and there is no way to add them. You would be miles ahead to replace the opener with a new state of the art model.

My Craftsman garage door opener opens fine. It

It could be closing too far or the sensitivity could be set too sensitive.

Lube the springs, wd-40 rust may be the whole problem.

If the door hits and the opener continues to move until the rail flexes upward and then reverses - probably the travel adjustment.

Does the door close and stay closed if you hold the wall button down constant until it closes? - this would indicate a safety eye problem.

If the door reverses before it hits the floor or just as it hits the floor it could be the sensitivity or if the safety eyes are mounted to the track they could be flexing enough to move the eyes out of alignment.

Hope this helps.

Need to know how to reset keypad for garage door.

If you pressed and immediately released the smart/learn button and then walked over to the keypad and keyed in a 4 digit code and it doesn't work then the keypad is bad. The model number for the opener is on the door side of the motor unit and starts with 139.

I have a craftsman 41a3625 garage door opener with a #53876 wireless keypad. I just bought the house. How do I get a new code. They did not leave the old code.

On the back of the motor unit near where all those white wires go you will find the smart/learn button. Press and immediately release this button and then walk over to the keypad and key in any 4 digit code you like and press enter.

Liftmaster security+ garage opener opens okay and refuses to close with remotes. Makes clicking sound.

HOLDING DOWN THE WALL BUTTON OVERRIDES THE SAFETY EYES.
WHEN HOLDING IT DOWN MAKES THE DOOR CLOSE PROPERLY THE PROBLEM IS IN THE SAFETY EYES.

ARE BOTH LEDS ON? - CHECK FOR A LOOSE OR BROKEN WIRE.
ARE THE EYES WIRED CORRECTLY?
ARE THEY AIMED AT EACH OTHER?

Replaced door sensors now door will not go down and light flashes

The safety eyes are either installed wrong, or you have the wrong type. Craftsman (liftmaster) has what they they call old style and new style safety eyes. You can not interchange the types.
