have you updated the maps on it? if no try and update the maps also do a firmware check to see if you need an update.

charge it up for a few hours, then take it outside and start your 3100, then get a paper clip and depress the reset on the left side near the bottom of your 3100 to reset it and let it restart, then wait for a while (could take up to 30 minutes after a reset) and let it acquire/lock on to the satellites. that should fix it, but if it doesnt, let me know and ill tell you what to do next.
