Question about Canon PowerShot G9 Digital Camera
Might need to have the flash replaced or it could be the hot shoe detection switch in the camera, it might think you are using an external flash when you are not. Try going to this site: www.camerasandparts.com. They only service powershots and they'll help you if you have a problem with one of these. If you need to have it serviced, they are terrific and about half the price of many shops. Hope that helps get you in the right direction anyway.

I have the same problem and tried this...it doesn't work...the flash control option on the main menu is grey and not accessible. any other suggestions?

Try going into the main menu and select the "Restore to factory defaults" option. This should solve your problem.
